Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Tinted Taupe Review and Swatches

Today I’ll be reviewing a must have lipstick. I usually just stick to tinted lip balms and lip glosses as far as lip products go. It’s not that I’m not a fan of bold colors, it’s just that I don’t have much occasions to wear them. And I’m more of an eye makeup person.

I was always on the lookout for a budget lipstick that fulfills two requirements: 1. Give full coverage for my pigmented lips and 2. Act as a ‘my lips but better (MLBB) shade. I found the ‘winning lipstick’ (haha!)

My Take:

Packaging: The lipstick comes in a square type packaging wherein the lid is almost the same length as the lipstick itself – sort of like the Revlon lip butters packaging. I find this classier though. The packaging isn’t very sturdy, but it isn’t flimsy either. It’s somewhere in between. The cap is brown because according to Maybelline this belongs to the brown family I guess. If I’m not wrong, red/pink lipsticks have reddish caps, mauve-toned ones have a purple cap, etc.

Shade: Tinted Taupe is a brown lipstick with prominent pink undertones, which makes it a very natural looking colour. It’s a lovely shade for girls with fair to medium skin tone. I think this is a perfect nude shade for heavy eye makeup looks such as smokey eyes.

Coverage: Though the shade is quite light, it gives the required coverage – the hallmark of a good lipstick! You can see in the lip swatches that you can’t tell that my lips are actually quite pigmented. One swipe would be enough for ladies with lighter lips. For chronic coffee drinkers like me, you’ll have to layer the lipstick a bit for the true colour to show up. Once it does you won’t be disappointed 🙂

Texture: The lipstick also has an amazing texture. It is really soft, though not to the point of melting, and creamy and just glides on the lips like a dream! No tugging and no dryness at all.

As you can see in the swatches, it has a slight sheen that translates beautifully onto the lips and makes them look healthy and plump and a gorgeous shade of pink!

Staying power: The only con of this lipstick is its staying power which is sadly just average. It starts to fade after 2-3 hours after which you have to reapply. It won’t survive a meal.

On My Lips:

PROS:

  • Creamy texture
  • Reasonably priced
  • Good pigmentation, close to full coverage
  • Easily available
  • Shade is a flattering MLBB colour
  • Sturdy packaging

CONS:

  • Staying power is low

Final word: If you are looking for a lipstick that is not over-the-top and is subtle, elegant and enhances your natural lip colour, then believe me ladies, tinted taupe is THE lipstick for you. If you’re just starting out in the world of lipsticks (like me when I picked up this lipstick!), then too this is a lovely choice. And lastly, if you love to play up your eyes with heavy eye makeup and team it with nude lips, then this is an excellent option for you. Go get it! 🙂

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss Shade No.110 Mirrored Mauve Review, Swatches and FOTD

Hello everyone!

Today, I am going to review one of the newly launched High Shine Lip Glosses from Mayelline. These glosses come in few amazing shades and the one I am going to review today is Shade No.110 Mirrored Mauve. I have chosen this shade because I wanted a good daily wear lip gloss for my dusky-dark skin tone. Let us check how it fared for me.

My Take:

This lip gloss comes in a transparent glass lip gloss tube which looks very simple. I expected the packaging to be attractive but then.. What’s there in the packaging? The product inside is important. The cap to which the doe foot applicator is attached looks classy with a silver finish. The packaging makes the lip gloss easy to use, travel friendly and handy but not much attractive in looks.

Mirrored Mauve is a beautiful mauve pink shade as per the shade name. It’s a perfect nude pink (with a hint of mauve) lip gloss for my skin tone. I am sure that this particular shade will look good on all skin tones. The pigmentation is also great compared to the other lip glosses available in Indian market today. The texture is smooth, creamy and gliding! It glides like a dream onto my lips.

I have pigmented lips and this lip gloss covers my pigmentation very well. This lip gloss has a faint candy fragrance which will not hurt sensitive noses. The fragrance disappears after application.

I could spot tiny silver shimmers here and there inside the glass tube from outside but on swatching, those shimmers disappear – which is really a good thing for me 🙂

This lip gloss feels light, non sticky and absolutely moisturizing on my lips. It stays for 3-4 hours leaving a mild tint without any food/drink intake which is a pretty good staying power.

Finally, I found my perfect nude pink gloss! And I am very very happy for that. So overall, this high shine lip gloss range from Maybelline will be a huge hit!

  • A beautiful mauve pink shade
  • Universal shade! It will suit all skin types
  • A boon for dusky girls
  • This particular shade is a rosy nude for many
  • Gives a glossy, attractive finish
  • Moisturizers lips
  • Stays for a good time
  • No silly shimmers
  • Price is okay for the quantity
  • Pigmentation is awesome!

CONS:

  • There is no con except the plain boring packaging.

Do I Recommend?:

I highly recommend these high shine lip glosses if you are gloss lover. I am not a gloss person in summer but still, I love the quality, pigmentation and staying power of this lip gloss. Mirrored Mauve is one beautiful nude pink shade to pair with heavy eye makeup. Don’t miss it!


Would I Repurchase?:

Yes! Once this mirrored mauve shade gets over, I will purchase the same shade again as its my perfect rosy nude. But before that, I am going to try out the other shades. Gleaming Grenadine is on my wishlist now! I may get it next week.

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner Blackest Black Review and Swatches

Being an eye makeup addict I always keep looking for best and affordable eye makeup products. And when it comes to makeup stuff no one can compete my love Maybelline. I have used the Gel Eye Liner from Tips and Toes (Thank you Lancy!) and found gel liner is far better than liquid liner when it comes to staying power so I bought this one with high expectation and honestly it did not disappoint me 🙂

Rs. 410 (I got mine for 330 Rs)

My Take:

Packaging: This gel eyeliner comes in a sweet cute tiny glass pot which is travel friendly and does not break easily. The brush which comes with the tube is superb, you can draw thick as well as thin lines using this brush. And it has a cap so it’s pretty hygienic.

Color: The color of this eye liner is jet black and it has a texture that is creamy like butter. The eyeliner glides on the eyelid like dream.

Pigmentation: In word one word it is ‘awesome’. One swipe gives that perfect black color!

Staying power: This eyeliner stays on my upper lid for almost 10-12 hours and on my lower lids for 8-9 hours. It does not cause any irritation.

PROS:

  • It’s an awesome product. Delivers almost everything it claims
  • Work as eyeliner as well as kajal
  • Highly pigmented
  • Long staying power
  • Does not irritate my eyes
  • Affordable, 3 gm lasts almost for 2 years
  • Does not dry easily
  • Easily available
  • Comes with an awesome brush
  • Smudge proof, and water resistant

CONS:

  • Difficult to remove even with a makeup remover
