Avon Simply Pretty Metallic Liquid Eyeliner Electric Blue Review, Swatches and EOTD

Hey lovelies!

Today I’m going to review metallic eyeliner from Avon. I bought this a while back but I haven’t really used it much. Anyway, on to the review!

Price:

Rs. 249 for 3 ml (what? Reminds me of eye drops)

My Take:

This eyeliner is unique in the sense that it is a very bright electric blue. It dries to a semi-matte finish with a glazed sheen. The nib of the eyeliner is a regular felt tip, which makes applying the eyeliner a piece of cake, even though it’s liquid eyeliner. You need to dip in the brush more than once thought because the nib is so tiny, you run out of the liner by the time you’re midway across your eyelid.

One problem that I see with this liner, at least for me, is that since it’s liquid it transfers onto my lashes and it makes them half electric blue. This happens with most liquid eyeliners I think but with black, it’s not noticeable. So you need a steady hand with this eye liner, or you need to apply some mascara from the top on your upper lashes, to cover the blue in case of any spill overs. (Can you see the single blue eyelash on the outer corner of my eye? Hahaha!) Another issue is that it is NOT waterproof. It’ll give way completely at even the slightest hint of water.

Swatches:

EOTD:

All in all, this eye liner is great for a night out as it’s very loud and a lovely shade of blue. It’s a lovely colour for summer – it’s bright, bold and refreshing.

What I like?:

  • The shade is beautiful
  • The semi-matte finish is really classy
  • Felt tip makes it easy to apply
  • It does not sting my eyes
  • Texture is good which makes application easy
  • Packaging is sturdy and small so it can be easily carried in your purse or clutch!

What I didn’t like?:

  • It’s a bit overpriced. 250 bucks for this tiny amount of eyeliner?
  • Not waterproof. Come on Avon! These days everything is waterproof!

Rating: 3/5

Final word:

All things considered, I do think this eyeliner is worth a try. It may look too bright on duskier beauties but it doesn’t mean it can’t be carried off. It’s easy to apply and it’s a great colour. Just add this electric blue liner to a casual outfit and your look is instantly transformed! So yes, if you have a bit of pocket money to spare, and you feel the colour will enhance your eyes, I’d say go for it 🙂

Would I Repurchase?:

Hard to say. The price does put me off but the colour is lovely. Depends on my mood I guess! Hope you liked the review!

ELF Liquid Eyeliner Black 4203 Review, Swatches and Photos

Hi everyone!

I don’t know if this is just me but I am always curious about beauty products used abroad. I don’t know why, I have this fascination about what their makeup is like. So when a friend of mine gifted me this liquid eyeliner from E.L.F I was delighted!

E.L.F is short for ‘Eyes. Lips. Face’ and it’s a US based brand. It’s a drugstore brand and offers a wide range of super affordable cosmetics, sort of like Elle 18 here I guess! You can check out more of their products on their official website.

Price and Quantity:

$1 or Rs 55 for 5 ml

My Take:

The eyeliner comes in a slender and sleek black plastic bottle. It is quite lightweight (well it will be if there is only 5 ml of liner but I’m talking about the packaging haha!) and the long handle of the brush makes it easy to hold.

What I really love about this eye liner is the super fine brush. Liquid liners are the trickiest to apply but this liner’s brush is AMAZING! It is a bit rigid and so it can be very easily maneuvered. It is extremely precise (see the super fine tip in the photos?!). You can use it for drawing super thin lines for a no-makeup look, thicker lines for more definition as well as cat eyed flicks for full on glamour. All three looks (and more) are equally easy to create with this brush. I’m terrible at winging out my eyeliner and you can see I’ve done a decent job with this brush. It’s one of the best eyeliner brushes I’ve ever used. Period.

This eyeliner isn’t waterproof or smudge proof though which is a bit of a problem. It starts to disappear at any sign of contact (rub your eyes once and half of it is gone :/). Another issue is the pigmentation. Initially when you apply the liner just after dipping the brush, you get an almost jet black line but it starts to lighten out very fast and you have to dip the brush again. I had to dip it in thrice to get the thinnest line shown in the photos. So it’s a bit inconvenient that way.

PROS:

  • Inexpensive
  • Very fine brush, easy to draw lines of any thickness and type
  • Good packaging
  • Detailed ingredients list given

CONS:

  • Availability is an issue
  • Not waterproof
  • Not the blackest black

Rating: 3.5/5

Final word:

This eyeliner by E.L.F is most definitely worth a purchase and I’d rate it 4.5/5 without a second thought but availability is a problem. I believe these are sold on EBay. If you are ever abroad you should definitely check this out. This eyeliner is sharp, precise and very easy to use. It is good value for money and I’d recommend you girls to give it a shot 🙂 I hope to be picking up more shades from this range soon!

MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil Engraved Review, Swatches and EOTD

by Deepti K

Hello all you pretty MABHians 🙂

I am back after short hiatus from reviewing, but I am all charged have some great reviews lined up only for you. I hope you are all enjoying the much awaited monsoons. This in fact is my favorite time of the year. I love the sound of rains and cool breeze in my balcony sipping chai with pakoras.. mmm drooling already 😉

Monsoons also call for the need of a great skin care regime and good quality makeup products. So today I’ll be reviewing one such great product; a nice black eye pencil/liner that’s a must for every woman’s vanity bag.

Price & Quantity:

Rs 1100 for 1.2 gm/0.04 US OZ

Key Ingredients:

My Take:

The pencil comes in a signature Black MAC case with sleek long MAC eye pencil with black bottom and gray cap.

The color is not the blackest of  black but it does come off as nice black with creamy smooth and glide on eye formula with mild kohl kind of smell.

This is the best eye pencil I’ve used by far and I’m not saying this because its MAC but because its quality speaks for itself. It’s really waterproof, smudge proof, non transferring as it claims and no pulling or tugging required 🙂 The formula does not sting/itches my eyes at all so much so that I once took a nap with the liner on and still my eyes did not sting or itch at all after waking up.

The consistency is very smooth and creamy and glides on eye lids and gives an ultimate matte finish to the eyes, it stays where it is even after 12+ hours even on the super oily lids like mine.. Yay!! (Happy dance)

Before and After Water Test:

Staying power is super awesome for both lids and waterline. It can be smudged for a smokey if freshly applied but after its sets after about a minute it stays and stays for good 🙂

I like all kinds of liners but I love the pencil ones the most. This one eye pencil did burn a hole in my pocket but because it does what it claims, I really don’t mind it!!

This has become my HG eye pencil, don’t think will ever get tired of using it.

On My Eyes:

PROS:

  • Waterproof, so super product for monsoons 🙂
  • Smudge proof
  • No pulling/tugging of lids required for application
  • Only one swipe gives a rich black color
  • Super awesome staying power 12+ hours
  • Great for oily lids too
  • Gives a very pretty matte finish
  • No stinging/itching
  • Smooth, rich creamy formula
  • Long lasting, have used it many times, no need to sharpen as yet

CONS:

  • It is an expensive product but for amazing pay back, I don’t mind 🙂

Rating: 4.5/5

Do I Recommend?:

Yes, absolutely if you are fan of good quality black eye pencil, this a worth a shot.

Would I Repurchase?:

Totally, I love this so much that I can keep buying the same shade again and again 😛
