Avon Simply Pretty Color Last Lipstick Poppy Review and Swatches

Hello pretty ladies!

I am back with a lipstick review after such a long time 🙂 this time it is the Avon Simply Pretty Color Last lipstick and this shade is called Poppy. I also have Almond Beige from this range, which has already been reviewed on MABH. Although Avon has changed the packaging of these lipsticks, the shades are still the same. Old wine in a new bottle, haha!

Price and Quantity:

Rs 259 for 1.7 g

My Take:

The lipstick Poppy is a very cool toned pink shade. It is a light pink with a sheen to it, so when applied, it sets to a satiny finish. The texture of this lipstick is quite creamy which makes application quite easy. The fact that the bullet is so thin also makes it easy to apply directly onto the lips without having to use a lip brush for the corners of the lips.

But here ends the good about this lipstick. Before I start, just scroll down and have a quick look at the lip swatch. Believe me when I say that this is the BEST lip swatch I could come up with. You’ve probably guessed by now that I have a bone to pick with this lipstick. Let’s begin.

The application of this lipstick is so patchy and it is unbelievable. I swipe it once and my dark upper up barely has any colour payoff. I swipe it the second time and it somehow wipes away the colour from some parts of my lips, leading to more patchiness. The coverage is so poor that even after more than 6 swipes the natural colour of my upper lip still manages to peek through. As if all this wasn’t enough, it also settles into fine lines! And it transfers to my teeth!

From a ‘Color Last’ lipstick the first thing you would expect is excellent staying power, right? Well in that case this lipstick does not exactly disappoint but it does not perform miraculously either. It stays on my lips for about 5 hours at best, which is not bad but I was expecting better.

You can see from the swatches that this shade is washing out my skin tone. So I’d say this is buy-able only for fairer girls with lighter lips and a lot of patience (to get rid of the patchiness!).

What I like?:

  • Reasonably priced
  • Does not bleed
  • Satin finish
  • Staying power is on the higher side, though not extraordinary
  • Stains slightly as it fades so lips are not completely devoid of colour

What I don’t like?:

  • The colour won’t suit every skin tone – it doesn’t suit mine!
  • Not pigmented enough to show up on dark lips
  • Extremely patchy application
  • Transfers a lot onto teeth
  • Settles into fine lines
  • Available only through agents

Rating: 1/5

Final Word:

I just didn’t expect this from Avon. Even if you do manage to apply the lipstick properly, the shade in itself is really tricky to carry off. It is really annoying how this lipstick turned out because it probably would have been among my favourite lipsticks; I just love such shades of pink!

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail Enamel Rave : Review, Swatches and NOTD

Hello everyone!

I am back with another nail polish review (no surprises there!) and it’s another one from the Avon Nailwear Pro+ range. This nail polish is called Rave and it is from the ‘Sequins’ collection. Let’s get into the review 🙂

Price and Quantity:

Rs 159 for 8 ml

My Take:

The nail polish comes in a rectangular bottle with a black screw on cap. You know what – to be honest, I’m not really a fan of brown nail polishes in general. I mean, I like brown metallic ones and the lighter nude browns but I feel that darker browns don’t really do anything for my hands. But the Avon brochure depicted so much shimmer in the ‘sequins’ nail polishes that I thought Rave might turn out to be an interesting, unique brown. Boy, am I glad I picked this up!

Rave is a super gorgeous metallic brown with tons of golden-brown shimmer packed in, which catch the light beautifully. I mean, there must be like a million shimmer particles on each of my nails! It does require a minimum of three coats for full opacity. The nail polish changes color as the light hits it, appearing a slightly darker brown from some angles and more metallic from others. This is one of those shades that look very classy on the toenails too. I love how glossy and sparkly and beautiful this shade is! Plus it doesn’t chip for a week and doesn’t lose its shine for about that long! What more can you ask for from a nail polish?

NOTD:

Although it has a lot of shimmer, it is essentially a muted brown and so I think it can be worn to work as well – definitely on the toes at least, if not on the hands.

What I like?:

  • Reasonably priced
  • Retains its glossy shine for almost a week
  • Will look beautiful on all skin tones
  • Does not chip for about a week
  • Colour stays true
  • Good consistency and texture, non-streaky application

What I don’t like?:

  • Absolutely NOTHING

Rating: 5/5

Final word:

I adore this nail polish and I am so happy I picked it up. It is one of the loveliest browns I have ever seen and it’s so flattering on my hands. It is classy and elegant and glamorous and chic all at once. Plus such unique nail polishes aren’t easily available at this price in India. This is like a nail polish from Zoya or something at less than half the price! I absolutely recommend this nail polish!

Avon Imari Seduction Skin Softener Review

Hello everyone!

I believe we all have our personal choice of fragrance. While I love fruity citrus smells very much I also love oriental and mild smells as well. So when I read up a few months ago that this skin softener had an amazing smell and worked amazingly I simply had to get it. Do read on to know what I feel about it. The ‘Seduction’ part also caught my eye but I was really sure that a skin softener cannot possibly help in that front.

Price and Quantity:

Price varies but roughly Rs.200 for 150 g

My Experience:

While I was totally drawn towards its smell I expected nothing from it other than the fragrance. But after getting it and using it for a while I was pleasantly surprised with it. The product comes in a purple tub with a silver screw lid. The packaging looks quite cheap but the lid closes fully and hence is travel friendly. I have kept it in my purse for days without any problem and have also dropped the container twice (Lousy me!) but the container is quite sturdy.

The product is quite slippery and feels watery. One needs very less product for each use hence one tub will last them quite a while. The creamy liquid glides on skin easily and absorbs into skin. I usually use it after I bathe and love its smell. The smell is quite strong and stays for long. I feel this stays for nearly 4-5 hours easily.

The product leaves skin feeling soft and smooth to touch. I had some dry parts on my leg and applying this totally took care of that. I love this on my elbows and knee too. It is a good way to nourish skin minus the oiliness of the usual moisturizers. So those who would like to get something for daily use or during hot seasons may try this. It does not feel heavy like some body butters and really keeps skin feeling soft and healthy. It takes care of any mild dry areas on skin and keeps them protected.

Why I like?:

  • Cost effective and on sale quite often so you can get it for around 150-200Rs
  • Easy to use and absorbs into skin quickly
  • Does not feel greasy
  • Smells so heavenly and is quite mild
  • Keeps skin hydrated for long
  • Needs very less amount per usage so one tub can be used for a good amount of time

Why I don’t like?:

  • Availability
  • May not be efficient for extremely dry skinned beauties

Rating: 4/5

So will I recommend this to you?:

Yes I will; this one is a great moisturizer to use every day and works quite good. While I don’t know about the ‘seduction’ part but it surely smells quite nice so I really feel all of you should try this amazing product at least once. It is affordable and will not burn a hole in your pocket so it’s worth a try.

Will I repurchase?:

Yes I will repurchase this as soon as I finish this tub. I have it for 2 months and I’m still not able to finish this up.
