Before checking the amazing tips to lighten dark lips naturally, let us first see the reasons why we have partial dark or dark lips:

Tanning: The first and foremost reason is tanning; like I said before. Those beauties with a nice pout are mostly victims of tanning. The sunlight falls right over the upper lip and it gets tanned easily, as the upper lip somewhat acts as a shed for lower lip, it stays safe.

Licking: Without our attention or notice, we lick our lips more than 50 to 80 times a day! I understand the dryness of that momentum act, but licking also causes darkening of the lips. This habit must be discontinued at the very childhood; otherwise the result will be very disheartening!

Caffeine intake: Those who drink coffee or tea 5-6 cups a day are totally ignorant to their lips. The more than usual intake of caffeine causes darkening of teeth as well as lips.

Smoking: This I hope knows everyone! Chain smokers must be aware of this fact that if they continue smoking, they are causing hazard to their health as well as their looks!

Lip products: Not all lip products are safe. Whenever buying any lip product, make sure it has a list of ingredients. Products with no ingredients list are supposedly not worthy. Using too much lip products can also be harmful for your lips.

Natural Treatments for Dark Lips:

Honey & lemon pack: Mix one teaspoon honey with one teaspoon lemon juice and apply it on the lips. Do not wash or remove it until you need to. Whenever you are staying in, apply this pack. Both honey and lemon works as bleaching agents, they will help in removing the tan on the lips and getting out the pink lips with daily use. It is one of the at-home remedies to lighten dark lips.

Vitamin E Capsule: Cut open a Vitamin E capsule and squeeze out the oil; apply it on the lips. Every night, before going to bed, apply this. This treatment might take a good time to lighten dark lips but the result will worth it.

Oil Scrub: Mix equal quantity of olive oil and coconut oil, and then add one teaspoon sugar. Scrub your lips gently with this mixture for at least 15 minutes. Use this scrub twice a week regularly to get soft and pink lips.

Herbal Treatments:

  • Mash 6-8 coriander leaves and squeeze out its juice. Apply it directly on the lips, reapply in every 2 hours. This will help you get that pink tone on your lips.
  • Cut a small piece of beetroot and gently rub it on the lips in order to make them pink. Daily or regularly using these herbal treatments will give you your baby lips back soon.
  • Mash 4-5 rose petals in to a paste and apply it on the lips. Do this at least once a week to lighten the pigmented lips.
  • Take one or two drops of yogurt and massage it gently on the lips daily before taking bath. The best bleaching agent, yogurt will remove all the tan and pigmentation from the lips.

Fruits in Help:

  • Apply the fresh coconut milk directly on the lips (daily if possible) to lighten the dark lips.
  • Make a fine paste of pomegranate seeds and apply it on the lips, this will help you get pink lips sooner.
  • Apply either cucumber or lemon juice to lighten the lip color.
  • Take one tablespoon of orange peel and make it a paste mixing with raw milk and apply it as a pack on the lips. Orange peel is very essential and helpful to lighten the skin tone.

Additional Tips:

  • Always try to wear lip balm that has SPF.
  • When you are doing facial, also apply lip packs (mentioned above) on the lips.
  • Even if you are not experiencing chapped lips, do not forget to wear lip balm to keep the lips balanced in moisture.
  • Wear lipsticks as much as you need as they might also be the reason of the pigments.

So, I think it is enough for this time. I hope you guys find these tips helpful. Please share your comments and views about it with us.  🙂

Homemade Cocoa Lip Scrub – DIY

Hey girls!

I am starting this week with a small DIY post. Who doesn’t want smooth and soft lips? To achieve this, one needs to exfoliate lips regularly. Lip exfoliation is very important to get rid of dead cells and flakiness from your lips. Lip skin lacks oil glands and thats why they get super dried compared to our facial skin. Try this homemade yummy cocoa lip scrub for baby soft pout.

I am sharing my version of cocoa lip scrub which is quite easy to prepare and use. And lip scrubs are awesome way to treat dry and chapped lips. You just have to refrain yourself from eating it.. it’s that delicious!!  😛

Step 2: Apply this mixture in circular motion on clean lips.

Step 3: Be gentle and exfoliate for 2-3 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse it off with warm water and apply your favorite lip balm.

That’s it, you are left with soft moisturized lips. Don’t go overboard. That can weaken the lips and make it unhealthy. Scrubbing your lips once or twice a week is sufficient. Follow it up with a lip balm.

I have started doing this at night as the lip balm will stay undisturbed for hours. This is definitely inexpensive and easy way to care our delicate lips.

When you prepare your own concoctions, their shelf life is limited due to the lack of preservatives. You can add vitamin E oil if you are planning to store it for a longer time. Give it a sniff before you apply it and if the smell is bad just throw it away. You can preserve this mixture for about 10 days in fridge. But I always prepare my DIY fresh every time. Try this and you will notice how smoothly your lipstick glides on your lips 🙂

This is the first lip scrub I ever made and I am super happy with it. Do try this and we will be glad to see your valuable comments.

In case you have your own version, let us know in the comments section!   🙂

My Take on this Compact:

The shade that I use is ’03 Golden medium’ which is the medium shade out of the three options available. I had mistakenly bought ’01 Ivory Fair’ first just because the SA suggested but it was a grave mistake.

The outer cover is a gunmetal colored plastic case that is sleek and compact. Packaging is a highlight in this range. It comes with a mirror which is useful if you want to touch up on the go. Also a sponge applicator is provided and that is present in a separate compartment at the lower part. There are tiny holes for aeration at the bottom. Nevertheless, one needs to clean the sponge after every use.

The absolute range from Lakme is great in terms of their texture. The powder is very fine milled and feels totally smooth when applied. If you remember I would have mentioned this in the Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse review too. This is a powder foundation that can be used in the dry form over moisturized skin. It gives more coverage than your usual powders. It brightens up the skin and gives a sheer matte finish.

The skin stays oil free for about 3 hours and needs touch ups after that. In summers this staying power may be lesser also. My T zone is what gets oily first, so touch ups there will do well for me. After an hour it will set into a natural dewy form and will make your face glow. This is something that I love about this compact.

If you are going to use it over your foundation to set it, then better use a light hand and minimal product. It may get over the top since the coverage of this compact powder is more. The sponge is soft but I find it rather useless. For dry powder application, brushes are the best since they give an even natural look.

When I used the sponge for wet application, I immediately turned into a vampire; my skin looked patchy, cakey and ghastly. I could simply not blend it at all. Blemishes and acne scars will be highlighted and this defies the purpose of makeup. Since then I am using it only as a dry compact powder.

What I like about this Compact Powder?:

  • Classy packaging
  • Smooth texture
  • Medium coverage
  • Travel friendly
  • Has SPF 17
  • Gives a radiant glow after sometime

What I don’t like about this Compact Powder?:

  • Highlights skin imperfections
  • Useless for wet application
  • No ingredient list
  • Over priced
  • Tall claims of 16+ hours

MABH Rating: 3/5

Do I Recommend?: It will work well as a dry compact powder only but the price is high for that. Buy at your own risk.

Would I Repurchase?:

No.
