Top 4 ‘No Makeup’ Makeup Ways to Enhance Your Eyes

by Adi

Hi everyone 🙂
I’m sure many of you all (including me!) are either in school or college or working in environments where the culture of applying makeup everyday still hasn’t picked up. Put on even coloured eyeliner and sometimes you come across as ‘made up’ or fake. Lipstick, eye shadow and blush don’t even feature!

Personally, I’m always on the lookout for makeup techniques that I can use to enhance my features without looking like I’ve done anything at all. The no makeup look! Even if you are not in school or college, these tips can be helpful if you just want an effortless and natural look. So here are some ways in which you can highlight your eyes without drawing too much attention to the ‘makeup’!

Tip 1: Apply a flesh toned eyeliner on your waterline:

It’s a known fact that kajal on the waterline makes your eyes look smaller. I don’t really care about this because I love my kajal and I think a bit of kohl takes you from ‘okay’ to ‘wow’ immediately. But if you want the doe-eyed look and want to open your eyes a bit, you should use a nude eye pencil on your eyes because this will make your eyes look bigger. If not flesh-toned, you could use even a light brown pencil which would not close up your eyes as much as black kohl and yet will provide some definition.

Tip 2: Tightline your eyes:

So the first tip essentially was – no kajal. Suppose you don’t have a flesh toned liner. You can make your eyes really pop by tight-lining your upper eyelid. Tightlining means that you apply kajal to your ‘upper waterline’. This makes your eyelashes look denser and also defines your eyes. And yet, there’s no visible liner!

Tip 3: Use an eyelash curler:

Makeup experts suggest that to make your eyes look bigger, you should apply tons of mascara to your top lashes. In other words, if your top lashes are prominent, your eyes automatically open up. If you want to skip the mascara (which is probably why you’re reading this!), you should just give your eyelashes a good curl. Most cosmetic brands manufacture eyelash curlers . If you don’t want to spend a ton of money on those, you don’t have to! I picked up mine from Health n’ Glow (or New U, I can’t remember!) for just 150 bucks. It probably doesn’t work as well as the high end ones (I haven’t tried any other curler) but it does the job. It’s amazing how much difference just curling your lashes makes!! If you want to go a step further, you can apply clear mascara too 🙂

Tip 4: White eye shadow/highlighter on the inner corners:

You can apply a bit of white eye shadow or highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes around the tear ducts. This also enhances your eyes. 90% of the time, eye makeup is incomplete without that dab of white on the inner corners to open up the eyes. Go easy on the white if you don’t want it to be too obvious. Even a little bit goes a long way! 🙂

There are so many tips, including these, that are age-old ways to make your eyes look bigger and more beautiful. I wanted to write these four together at one place because a lot of girls still aren’t familiar with them. I’m 21 and till last year, I had absolutely NO idea about tightlining, flesh-toned eyeliners or eyelash curlers! So I hope these tips helped you 🙂

So how do you enhance your eye look without makeup?

How to Apply Eyeshadow the Right Way? ~ 6 Steps

Hey girls!
This post is solely dedicated to the eye makeup enthusiasts (beginners though). To start it up, like all of us, I had too much interest in eye makeup yet couldn’t try a single look because of the ignorance in that area. Now that I am kind of okay at it, I came up with certain steps to get a neat application of eye shadow.

Steps:

Step 1: Start it off with an eye shadow primer or a makeup base. (I make my own eye shadow primer, if you want to know the recipe, please do comment).

Step 2: Whenever you think of applying an eye shadow, firstly decide upon on how many colours you want to use and what kind of event/program you have and also what you are going to wear.

Step 3: If you want to make a look with 2 or 3 eye shadows, follow this. Always start up with a lighter shade on the eye duct and little over the starting of the eye. Slowly take the second darker shade and apply just after the lighter shade. Later on the crease and outer lid apply the darkest eye shadow.

Step 4: When you are just applying the eye shadow you don’t have to worry about the way it shows up. Because, you may need to blend the eye shadows well after the first formal application.

Step 5: Use a highlighter(a white/neutral eye shadow) near the tear duct area and on the brow bone area to add that depth to the look.

Step 6: Apply an eye liner (either a gel/liquid eye liner or eye pencil)on the lid and if you want to add some drama, you may always extend the line to make it look like a cat eye.

Are you a Eyeshadow person? Do you use it everyday?

My Take on Fiama Di Wills Gel Bar Exotic Dream:

I am fond of using soaps and shower gels or body washes almost every time I take bath. I know, some people tell me that it is not good for skin, but if I don’t use soap or shower gel, I don’t even feel that I took bath, how weird am I? Anyways, coming back to the product, I have used soaps from the same brand before and I liked it. So, Fiama Di Wills Gel Bar Exotic Dream (Blackberry & Blackcurrant) is a quite big bar and of my favorite color, purple. It comes in a big cartoon box and sealed in a foil-type sachet.

It smells heavenly, but the fragrance does not linger for even some time after the bath (I wish it could!). It lathers very well like every other soap. It is easy to rinse off, no slippery effect afterwards (thank goodness!). But my semi dry body skin feels quite dry after using this gel bar.

So, I don’t think this gel bar accomplishes what it claims, such as, shower gel experience in a bar, rich in moisture. The only good thing about this gel bar is its beautiful smell. Maybe, I was expecting a little bit more from this gel bar but overall, it is a good soap (I mean Gel Bar) for daily use if you (dry skin ladies) are planning to use body lotion afterwards.

And, sorry about the pictures where it looks like I have scratched the bar, well, I did not do anything like that; though it is my fault because I forcibly wanted to put the bar inside of its sachet after using (don’t really have an answer why :P).

Pros of Fiama Di Wills Gel Bar Exotic Dream:

  • Cleans skin.
  • Lathers well.
  • Smells heavenly.
  • Quite large quantity.
  • Affordable price.
  • Prevents body odor.

Cons of Fiama Di Wills Gel Bar Exotic Dream:

  • Dries out skin.
  • Smell does not linger.
  • Contains SLS.

MABH Rating: 4/5.

Do I Recommend?:

Yes, for normal skin; maybe, for extra dry skin.

Would I Repurchase?:

Maybe.
