MUA Lipstick Shade 16 Nectar : Review, Swatches and FOTD

Hello everyone!

Previously I reviewed the MUA Lipstick in 13 which is a hot red shade. Today, the review is about MUA Lipstick in shade 16 which has a name luckily, called ‘nectar’. I am expecting MUA to name all their shades; the plain numbers are pretty boring. Aren’t they? Fine let’s move on to the review now.

Price and Quantity:

£1 for 3.8 g (Around 78 INR)

My Take:

This one pound lipstick comes in a neat plastic bullet which is black in color. There’s a mini pot attached to its bottom to identify the shade easily and what’s more.. The pot contains tiny amount of the same lipstick! The packaging is sturdy, easy to use and mess free.

Nectar is a beautiful bright coral shade with orange undertones. It reminds me of L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Pink Passion Lipstick in terms to texture and creaminess but nectar leans more towards orange than pink. There are no messy shimmers or glitters. The finish is very creamy, averagely pigmented and moisturizing. It took 1-2 swipes to cover my pigmented lips fully.

At first, it gave a slight neon-y finish but then, it settled to a beautiful coral in few minutes after application. The shade is very summery and it is suitable for all skin tones. Some bloggers have mentioned that this shade will be not suitable for ‘dusky skin tones’ but on my dark skin, it shows good. (I think so!) After all, its all about carrying the shade confidentially. If you are darker than me, then it might wash out if not worn the proper way. I need a good makeup base to carry this bright coral. Sometimes it shows up slightly pink on my lips after 2-3 hours and I am wondering why.

I fell in absolute love with this lipstick. Shade 13 from MUA didn’t suit me that much as its a bright red – and it also adds age to my look. But this perky coral is very suitable for day looks and night looks; you can wear it when you are planning to go out with friends. I sometimes use this lipstick as my cream blush too and it brings out a lovely glow on my face.

The staying power ranges between 2-4 hours without food. It once stayed on me more than 5 hours too and it survived my horlicks 😛 For a one pound lipstick, the quality and staying power are amazing. Due to the creamy texture, it might melt in summers. I guess I will finish this bullet very soon! (Credit goes to the creaminess)

Why I like?:

  • Affordable price
  • Super creamy, non drying texture
  • Good pigmentation
  • Wearable bright coral shade
  • Staying power is really good for the price
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Bonus little pot attatched at the bottom
  • This shade will suit all skin types
  • Can also be used as a soft coral blush

Why I don’t like?:

  • However I exfoliate and prep my lips, it sometimes settle into fine lines
  • Melts off easily in summers
  • Have a mini brunch and its all gone!

Rating: 4.5/5

Would I Repurchase?:

Definitely! I am planning to stock up 2-3 bullets of this same shade nectar next time when I shop from MUA. I purchased this lipstick recently with some other MUA products which you can find in My Recent MUA Haul

Why I Love Neutral Eyeshadow So Much? ~ 5 Reasons

Hello everyone!

If I should choose and use only one eyeshadow throughout my life, my lips will scream ‘neutral’. Leaving behind my favorite pink, neutral shade comes first in case if I should own only one eye shadow! I love this shade that much. Here today, I am sharing my five interesting reasons why I love this shade very much. After reading this post, don’t forget to share your love for neutral eyeshadow, in the comment section below!

1. The Best Shade for Beginners:

Are you new to eye shadows? Then this one is for you! When I was new to eye makeup, neutral shade was my best friend. Whether it is for school, any official meeting, outing with friends, or visits to religious places, I feel comfortable with this eyeshadow. A touch of soft pink with neutral will make your eye makeup look more beautiful and natural.

2. Goes with Any Outfit:

If you are confused about choosing the right eyeshadow for your outfit and thinking about how to match your clothes, then go neutral. From mini skirts, jean shorts to sarees and salwars – you can wear a neutral eyeshadow with any outfit you own! Will that fuchsia pink eyeshadow in your vanity suit your brown silk saree? or can you wear a golden glittery eyeshadow with classy mini skirts? But say neutral – it’s like your another skin! You can wear neutral eyeshadow however you wish. You can adjust it with other shades to make different eye makeup looks!

3. Looks Natural:

Neutral is the best eyeshadow for natural look. This is the reason why neutral is best for beginners and it goes with any outfit. Your neutral need not to be always that ‘dark brown eyeshadow’. A soft skin colored shade in your undressed palette will do! If I wear brown neutral shadow, my eyes look dull. So it totally depends on which shade you choose. A soft, no-shimmer or less shimmer neutral eyeshadow will look very natural on anyone! Be it pale, wheatish, dusty, tan or dark.. whatever skin tone you might be.. Whatever your eye ball color may be.. You can carry neutral shades any time of the year!

4. Brighten Up Eyes:

Whenever I experience those no-sleep-yesterday-night kinda dull eyes, neutrals will be my pick. Wearing a neutral eyeshadow with a black eyeliner and kajal bring life to dull, sunken eyes! It is the best option for eye makeup for tired eyes. Neutral shades pop up your eyes in order to give you a beautiful, bright eye look. If you learn the proper way to wear neutrals, you will always look ‘eye’ good among your friends and relatives. They will start praising how beautiful your eyes look! Neutrals can also be used in a trick to make your eyes look bigger with eye makeup.

5. Easy Smokey Eyes:

With a slight twist, you can turn your soft neutral eye makeup look to hot smokey eyes! After putting on your neutral eyeshadow, apply a dark black eyeshadow from the center of your crease line extending towards your outer lash line. Blend it well using a smudging brush. Highlight your brow bone area. You are done with your 2 minute neutral smokey eyes! If you are new to smokey eyes, start with neutrals.

Love neutrals? Then answer these questions below!:
1. When was the first time you got introduced to neutral eyeshadows?
2. Which is your favorite neutral eyeshadow palette till date?
3. Do you like plain neutral eyes or smokey neutral?

Enjoyed the post? So sit back and wait for my next post on neutral eyeshadows. I am planning to write on how to choose the perfect neutral eyeshadow for your skin type and do’s and dont’s of wearing them. Any other idea? Hmm?

NYX Color Lip Balm Grazie – Pink or Red Toned? {Beauty Query}

Adi asks..

Hi Lancy 🙂

I noticed you’ve reviewed the NYX Color Lip Balm in Grazie and I was wondering if you could give me an idea as to what the exact colour is like? I have seen the swatches in the review but I still wanted to ask because I already have picked up Obrigado from this range and I don’t want to the two shades to be very similar!

Obrigado is a deep red with pretty much no pink in it. I have attached the swatch so can you tell me if Grazie is even a little bit similar to this? I guess Grazie has a bit of pink in it right? Is it a bit like Berry Crush from Baby Lips?

Would really appreciate any help on this 🙂 :*

Hey Adi! NYX Grazie is of course a pink toned lip balm but the pink is not a ‘hot pink’. It is a beautiful wearable melon pink with rosy red undertones to it. The brand describes it as a red toned pink but I feel there is more pink in it 🙂 Sometimes, it really showed on my lips more like a reddish pink shade but when I swatched it now, it looks more or less similar to Maybelline berry crush, but with a water melony tint! The color that shows up depends on your skin color and undertones. I remember it showing up on my lips more redder (than pink) some days.
But I am sure you will love the shade Grazie! It moisturizes lips so well and leaves behind a lovely tint. I personally liked this one more than berry crush in terms or tint and fragrance. I don’t own Obrigado; but while checking the swatches online, I find it to be more on the red side – no pink tint as you said. Grazie and Obrigado won’t be much similar I guess. Give a try! 🙂 I hope you will love Grazie! If you are still confused, go for another shade like Merci. It is more pinker than Grazie! What say?
