Revlon Touch and Glow Advanced Fairness Cream Review

Hi girls! How are you? I hope all of you are happy, chirpy and beautiful, as ever. I have a confession to make. I always fall of a prey to products that say words like, ”clear complexion”, ”fairness”, ”glowing skin” (Even though most of them never do exactly what they claim!) Given that, there is one more such product I happened to pick up, few months back. It is Revlon touch and glow advanced fairness cream.

Although, the fairness claim as such turned out to be false, as expected. Still, it turned out to be a decent product. I got my second tube free with my mom’s hair color. Yay! ย Read on to know more about my experience with the product.

(I always try to research a bit about the contents of the product. I might not give you excellent advice but here is a little something I would like to share. One of reasons why honey is good for your face is because it has antioxidants which help to repair skin damage and give your face a lift. Honey also contains potassium that helps in treatment for acne. Dual sunscreen means the product offers protection from UV A as well as UV B and prevents skin darkening.)

Price and Quantity:

Rs. 165 ย for 50 grams

My Take:

This fairness cream comes in a soft pink and cream coloured tube. It has a screw cap, which closes tightly. It is light weight and easy to carry around.

The cream is creamy white in color and it has a lotion like consistency. It is not at all runny, not thick either. It spreads well on skin and gets completely absorbed in skin. Please see the picture, that much amount is sufficient for entire face. It has a mild smell which goes off real fast. So, it should not be a problem for irritable noses.

The cream leaves the skin with a matte finish. Thankfully, it does not leave my skin with a chalky layer (like fair and lovely). It feels very light on my skin with no greasy feeling at all. I have not experienced any break outs or allergy with the product. Overall, it is a decent day cream.

Why I like:

  • Feels light on skin
  • It has sunscreen
  • Mild fragrance
  • No chalky layer on skin after use, as with Fair and lovely
  • Helps in getting rid of daily tan
  • No breakouts
  • Affordable
  • Travel friendly

Why I don’t like?:

  • Fake fairness claim, I did not improve my complexion

Final Verdict:

It turned out to be a very fine day cream for me with moisturisers and sunscreens. I would not say that it helped me improve my complexion but it has protected further tanning for me.

Rating: 4/5

Do I Recommend?:

If you are looking out for all in one product that works as a moisturiser, fairness cream as well as mild sunscreen. Go for it.

Would I Repurchase?:

Yes, most probably. Though, I never stop hunting for better products ๐Ÿ˜€

Avon Simply Pretty Plum Perfect Lipstick Review and Swatches

All of us love wearing lipsticks. Different shades for different moods right! ๐Ÿ™‚ I myself am very fond of Lakme, Elle 18 and Avon ranges. All of them offer lots of shades at pretty reasonable prices. So, mostly when I plan on buying one lip colour, I end buying 3 or 4 at a time.

The lipstick I am going to review today is Avon Simply pretty: Perfect Plum shade. I got this more than a year back. Now, this range is available in a different packing, I guess. Read on, to know more about this lipstick and have a look at the swatches.

avon lipstick, plum perfect

Price and Quantity:

I got these through some scheme for 99 bucks ๐Ÿ˜€ Later on there was a hike and it became INR 139.

For the exact price, you have got to check the monthly manual of Avon, since there are a lot of different schemes and discounts available, quite regularly with Avon. Quantity happens to be 4 grams.

My Take:

This lipstick comes in a very regular black, plastic twisty tube. I found this packing very boring. I guess, the packing has been changed now to a more vibrant shade. Never the less, the cap fits in quite well and the product is quite travel friendly ๐Ÿ™‚

It is a deep mauve plum shade. The colour pay off is good. You can check out the swatches. I have lured my sister to pose for a lip swatch, in exchange of a Dairy milk ๐Ÿ™‚ She is such a sweetheart! Mauve suits, every skin tone, more or less.

The lipstick stays for a quite reasonable time for me. ย It would easily stay on you for 3 hours and then you would need a touch up. It transfers a bit on cups etc but not in a scary way.

As far as, moisturizing the lips is concerned, it is not very good in that (It would not dry your lips, either). So, apply a little amount of vaseline before you put on the lip colour. On the positive side, it glides on smoothly. It has a semi matte finish to it.

Swatches:

Why I like this Lipstick?:

  • Pigmented shade.
  • Semi matte finish
  • Reasonable staying power
  • Pocket friendly
  • Travel friendly
  • Does not bleed

Why I don’t like this Lipstick?:

  • Does not moisturize lips much.
  • Available through agents only

Final Verdict:

I am quite satisfied with this lipstick and would look out for trying some more shades soon.

Rating:ย 4/5

Do I Recommend?:

Yups, it is a budget buy with decent performance.

Would I Repurchase?:

Yes, I would love to. Sadly, I have no Avon agent in touch currently. Earlier, a neighborhood lady used to do it, now, she has discontinued ๐Ÿ™

My 10 Step Guide to Cosmetics and Hygiene

by Pearl

Hi girls! How is life? I hope all are doing well. ๐Ÿ™‚
Today, I will be talking about how we are so careful while buying products for our skin. How particular we are regarding our regular Salon visits and how we shell out so many bucks for beauty and skincare products BUT fail in maintaining and using our cosmetics hygienically! I doubt that anyone would confess that the above is true. (But it is, right!!!) Not to worry, I hope little facts, tips and tricks in this article would change your habits a little ๐Ÿ™‚

Rules to Maintain Hygiene of Your Cosmetics:

1. First and foremost, please do not share or exchange you cosmetics. There are some very logical explanations to this:

  • A product used by a person usually harbours germs from that person. By sharing their cosmetics, you are transferring those germs on your skin. Associated with sharing cosmetics are infections like herpes, common cold and dermatitis.
  • Different products are meant for different skin types. If you share and use a product meant for dry skin type on your oily or combination skin.. You are going to have a super oily skin day!! (Editors note: With breakouts the next morning.. Experience speaks..ughh) ๐Ÿ˜›
  • Your skin may be allergic to particular chemicals in a product that suits somebody else’s skin type.
  • Foundations, concealers and compacts have different shades as per the skin tones. Something that blends in well in their skin type might look bad on you.

2. Always, discard your cosmetics after expiry date. Shelf life of products is almost always mentioned on the products beyond expiry dates, the chemicals in the beauty products disintegrate and deteriorate and might actually harm your skin. Please take special care with eye products, since they are very sensitive and susceptible to infection.

3. It is always a good idea, to wash your hands before you start applying your make up or better still, also use a hand sanitizer.

4. Make up brushes and compact sponges should be kept absolutely clean. Wash them regularly with an antibacterial soap/hand wash; at regular intervals and let them air dry. If you can manage to keep them in sunlight for drying, even better. Make sure that these are absolutely dry before storage. If left damp or laden with old make up, they are sure to provide a habitat for germs to grow. If possible, try to use disposable applicators.

5. Always store make up products in a cool dry place.

6. Keep your combs clean by immersing them in warm water containing Dettol liquid, overnight.

7. Sanitizing Lipsticks: Spray with surgical spirit and then wipe off the surface layer with a clean tissue. There are some wipes available for this purpose too.

8. For compacts, blushes etc. It is best to simply wipe the surface with a clean, dry tissue. This helps remove the contaminated layer.

9. For products like lip glosses, moisturisers or hair creams etc that come in a tub or tube packing, always try to dispense some product on a plate or any other clean surface and use. It is advisable to use clean spoons to dispense products from a tub.

10. Try to use eye pencils that can be sharpened. This way, you will be able to regularly discard the superficial contaminated layer, before use.
