Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Nourishing Lip Balm Review

Hello everyone, hope you all are doing well since the hot summer is eventually leaving its place to the lovely rainy season. No matter its summer or winter or rainy season, I always need lip balm for my lips (my lips get dry all the time). I have tried many lip balms of different brands, and today I will be reviewing a lip balm from Biotique with SPF 30 UVA/ UVB Sunscreen.

Price and quantity:

Rs. 99 for 0.6 oz. /16g.

My Take:

This lip balm is a gel type consistency and its color and texture is just like pure aloe vera gel. It comes in a not too small yet very cute green jar which is the typical jar type of this brand. It has an extra cover under the lid which I find fascinating (don’t know why). Only a little amount does all the work; so 16 g will go for a long time.

Its consistency is very thick (thicker than aloe vera gel) which is good. It stays for really long time unless you eat and wash your mouth. It claims 100% Botanical Extracts, which is proven in the ingredients list, and also after using it I felt the same.

I am using it for the last two weeks, till now it has cured my chapped lips (due to staying long time in air conditioned room). I have worn it outside also, though I don’t know how much it works as sunscreen. But it did not heal my sunburned lips till now (maybe I am judging too soon). Overall, I love it; if I finish it before winter, I will definitely buy another one.

PROS:

  • Gel like consistency yet, very thick.
  • Cured my chapped lips.
  • Cute jar packaging.
  • Extra lid for protection.
  • Inexpensive.
  • 100% herbal.
  • Good quality brand (I have previously used hair products of this brand).
  • Staying powder is excellent.
  • 16g is a lot amount, for small amount is enough.

CONS:

  • There is none. I simply love it.

Rating: 5/5

Do I Recommend?

Yes, definitely. I am sure you will love it too.

Would I Repurchase?

Yes. Right after I finish this one.

Nivea Fruity Shine Strawberry Lip Balm Review and Swatches

Hey there everyone!

Hope you’re doing well 🙂 Today I’ve got a review for a lovely lip balm that I’m sure is a hot favorite for many of you – Nivea fruity shine lip balm 🙂 I have no idea why but I didn’t try out these lip balms from Nivea until last year. Seriously someone should kill me just for that. Anyway, when I did decide to pick up one of these I went for strawberry. (That’s sort of like my trial ‘flavor’ or whatever. I always pick up berry stuff ahead of anything else)

Price and Quantity:

Rs 129 for 4.8 g

My Take:

The lip balm comes in a twist up bullet form. I find the packaging a bit boring. The cap is colored (and quite accurately, the color of the cap is a close match to the color of the lip balm) but when you remove it, the tube is just plain white. C’mon Nivea! A bit of creativity here please!

On application, the lip balm has a red tint that has orange-sh undertones. I have the pomegranate lip balm too and that is a deeper red (you can see the comparison swatch). Strawberry is lighter. But the color still translates beautifully onto the lips. It doesn’t offer full coverage, but that’s not what it’s meant to do anyway. Instead, it leaves a lovely healthy red tint and a ‘watery’ balm like shine that will suit almost all skin tones.  Okay, by watery I mean, like consistency wise. You know how in lip glosses you can sort of make out that the gloss is thick – from the shine? I think the lip swatches will explain what I mean better 🙂

The lip balm bullet has very fine shimmer which is very prominent in the swatches on my hand but it hardly shows up on the lips, as can be seen in the lip swatch.

I know the swatch on my hands has come out quite sheer, but the color shows up beautifully on my lips, unlike TBS lip balm which I reviewed earlier.

You’ll have to reapply this every 2-3 hours because the staying power isn’t great. Pigmented lips (like mine) require multiple swipes for the color to show. But don’t overdo it because it tends to get slightly runny if the weather is too hot.

On My Lips

PROS:

  • Decently priced
  • Has SPF 10
  • Colour payoff is reasonable especially for pigmented lips
  • Leaves a reddish tint after fading
  • Gives a more natural shine to the lips, not a thick shine like glosses
  • Quantity is satisfactory given the price (this lasted me about 6 months – I used it almost daily, more than once a day)

CONS:

  • Staying power could have been a bit better
  • Packaging is slightly flimsy
  • Can bleed slightly
  • MABH Rating: 4.5/5 (-0.5 for the staying power and the packaging)

Final word: If you have pigmented lips and need a lip balm that gives your lips a sheer wash of red, this balm is for you. Not just strawberry, I believe all the variants are worth a try. I loved this so much; I’ve almost finished it up (as you can see from the photos, hahaha!) Also, I’m almost halfway through Pomegranate right now and I really like it 🙂

I wanted to try Pink Guava; that shade of pink is to die for! But I’m not sure if it’ll show up on my lips 🙁 To anyone who has that – do you think I should buy it? That’s it for this review. Hope you guys liked it! 🙂

The Body Shop Born Lippy Lip Balm Raspberry Review

Hey All!

If there is one brand for which I am ready to blow up tons of money and indulge myself, it’s The Body Shop. And if nothing else, ONLY because their products smell SO good! I love it when I walk into the shop and it has a lovely combination of floral and citrusy scents. I can go on and on about my love for this brand (even though I own nothing but this lip balm!) so let’s just get straight into the review 🙂

Price:

Rs 205 when I bought it. Not sure if it’s still the same or if they have hiked it.

Quantity:

8.5g (10 ml)

Ingredients:

My Take:

The lip balm comes in a tub packaging. Though it looks decently pigmented in the tub, as you can see in the swatch, it is extremely sheer. I found this disappointing because given the price, I would have liked at least some color payoff. I haven’t given a lip swatch with this review because I’m embarrassed to share it with you all – this lip balm does absolutely nothing for my pigmented lips 🙁

I think it’s needless to say that the lip balm smells incredible. (You must have guessed that from my crazy introduction to this review!) It really has a lovely raspberry scent which I absolutely adore. Sometimes I just open it to smell it 😛

The lip balm is quite shiny on the lips and looks a bit like a low shine semi clear lip gloss.

The biggest drawback of this lip balm is that it doesn’t moisturize! I was really upset when I first applied this and my lips (which are naturally dry and VERY prone to chapping) didn’t show any signs of moisturisation at all. I have heard that The Body Shop lip products in general do not measure up with other brands’ lip products of the same price range, and I really found this lip balm unacceptable. It’s been a year since I bought it and its lying almost as good as new.

PROS:

  • Quantity is decent given the price
  • Amazing fragrance (may be a con for some though!)
  • Has a semi-glossy finish and shine

CONS:

  • Does not hydrate dry lips at all
  • Tub packaging isn’t as convenient to use as tube packaging
  • Not much colour payoff (this is a con for me, but its subjective)
  • A bit expensive relative to other lip balms in the market

Rating: 2.5/5

Final Word:

The Body Shop charges a relatively high price for its Born Lippy lip balm and unfortunately fails to deliver in terms of moisturisation and pigmentation. If you would like to try this out, you are welcome to, but I would not be repurchasing this – partly because I don’t think its worthy of a repurchase and partly because I’ll never use it all up 😛 My apologies to The Body Shop, but this lip balm just doesn’t measure up. (However much it hurts me to say this!)
