Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail Enamel Coral Beat Review, Swatches and NOTD

Hello girls!

You know, if I may make a confession, out of all the beauty products I review, I love reviewing nail polishes the most. I love doing NOTDs, although they take so long! But anyway, here is a review of a lovely young refreshing nail polish from Avon’s Nailwear Pro+  range. This shade is called Coral Beat! Read on to know why I love it so much 😀

Price:

Rs. 159 for 8 ml. You can get it on discount quite often though.

My Take:

The product comes in a no nonsense square-ish bottle with a black brush handle.

Coral Beat is a lovely bright orange nail polish. It is a tangerine color that has a creme finish. The brush is flat and easy to maneuver. The first coat dries in less than a minute. Successive coats take longer to dry but they still dry within 2 minutes or so. The nail polish is not opaque even after three coats. Maybe a fourth would work, but I don’t think it’s meant to be fully opaque.

NOTD:

PROS:

  • Gorgeous bright tangerine colour
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Dries relatively quickly
  • Inexpensive considering the quality
  • Does not chip for 5 days -1 week
  • Colour stays true

CONS:

  • Goes on sheer even after three coats (some polishes are meant to not be fully opaque, this particular nail polish falls in that category I think, but I know some may find this annoying!)
  • Ingredients not mentioned (though I know for a fact that Avon nail polishes are free of DBP because I read it on their site. I read somewhere that they are 3-free i.e. free from DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde, though I’m not sure about this)

Final Word:

This is a lovely orange nail polish and I always thought that it’s quite likely that a cheaper dupe of this exists somewhere in the market. I just haven’t come across it yet. I won’t be surprised if it’s the other way round though, meaning if this is a dupe of some more expensive polish like maybe a shade from Chanel or M.A.C? Anyway, I think this colour is lovely and I’d recommend purchasing this. It looks so chic on the toenails too! Hope you all liked this review!

Avon Supershock Max Waterproof Black Mascara Review

A few months back, Avon released its Supershock Mascara. The mascara claims to have a ‘weightless formula and unique helix brush’ and claims to ‘enhance the thickness of lashes by 15 times volume.’ (How do they measure that? Don’t ask me because I’m studying engineering and I’ll actually try to come up with a mathematical answer that’ll turn this review into a snooze fest :P)

Price:

Original price is Rs. 499 for 10g but you can get it for much less since it’s often on discount (for instance currently it is available for 329 INR, which is the price at which I got it.)

My Take:

Packaging: The mascara comes in a cylindrical light weight plastic tube that is a marvelous shade of teal. It is glossy and shiny and looks so posh. Easy to identify and a treat for the eyes 😀 the cap screws on quite tightly so there is no danger of leakage or drying up of the mascara. So far, full marks!

Brush/wand: The brush of this mascara is what makes it unique. It’s quite unlike any other mascara brush that I’ve seen. It’s relatively larger and very light weight. The bristles are extremely short, and there are so many, all around the brush. They are placed in a spiral/helix arrangement such that no lashes can escape the brush.

Consistency: The consistency of the mascara is definitely not runny. It’s quite on the thick side which is partly why the increase in volume is so intense. The weightless part sure is right, the tube feels like it has nothing in it! It doesn’t feel heavy on my lashes either.

Staying power: Once you apply this mascara, it’s here to stay. It doesn’t budge! It is completely and totally waterproof. You’re free to dance in the rain or cry a river wearing this. You have to use a very strong make up remover to remove it. I use the Ayur cleansing milk and it takes quite a while to clean it up.

So how was my experience with this mascara? In one word: love it. (Okay two words but whatever)

The consistency of the mascara makes it a bit tricky to apply. If you’re not careful, you may end up with slightly clumped lashes, which can be hard to separate out even with a lash comb. But the volume and the length that this mascara gives are excellent. Have a look at the pictures and see for yourself 🙂

( I’m sorry my eyes look so tired! The left side pics show two coats of the mascara while the right side show bare lashes, so that you can compare!)

On applying one coat of the mascara, you can see the difference in length. And an increase in volume is also noticeable. The increase in volume is build able – it can be increased further by applying a second coat but be very careful while doing so, because this is when the mascara tends to get slightly clumpy. You should wipe off the excess mascara on the back of your hand or against the mouth of the tube or else it’ll clump. This is especially important when applying the second coat.

PROS

  • Light weight, lovely packaging
  • True to its claims to quite an extent
  • Decently priced (especially if you get it on discount)
  • Waterproof and stays put for a long time

CONS

  • Prone to slight clumping (You can see slight clumping in the pics too.)

Rating: 4.5/5

Final word:

Like I said, I LOVE this mascara. I have long lashes but they are very sparse, and this gives me the volume I need plus it makes my lashes look even longer! It lengthens and increases the volume of my lashes to the extent of making them look like I’ve put on falsies. It is definitely a value for money and an absolute must-have. I’d recommend this mascara any day!

Avon Simply Pretty ColorBliss Lipstick in Sweet Rose Review

by Chand

This is my first Avon product. The main draw back of this brand is you have to purchase only through the Avon members. If you are not aware of any one personally who deals with Avon cosmetics, then it is a little irritating. Thanks to the blogging world, it has introduced so many ladies to me who have access to Avon cosmetics. They are willing to take the trouble of shipping to you if at all you need any Avon products.

Avon Simply Pretty ColorBliss Lipstick in Sweet Rose Review

Shade: Sweet Rose

My Experience:

Packaging: The packaging style is the usual lipstick case, a twist up tube with the click pressing cap, all made of plastic. The shape is a little different. It is a little broader and curvy near both its ends than the middle of the tube. And some thing cute is the creeper with heart shape in between is present at the middle of the lipstick tube. It makes the package to look pretty attractive.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance/Texture: The color is a perfect peach. The name says ‘Sweet Rose’, but there is no amount of rose I see in the shade. All peach lovers will like this product. It is a subtle peach, the type of the light one.

Consistency wise it is non-sticky and non-glossy. The lipstick transferred on to the lips in one swipe is very little, just the minimum that is needed. The next swipe again, some more product gets on to the lips and the complete color is visible. The feel on my lips is as though I have applied nothing. So light is its texture.

Avon Simply Pretty ColorBliss Lipstick in Sweet Rose Review

I do not find any fragrance to this lipstick. Or rather my smell sensing cells are just dead. ;). Even if there is any smell, usually it would vanish off in about 2 minutes or so.

How it works: Swiping this lipstick on the lips is very simple and easy. At least 2 swipes is a must for the color to be visible and to show that you have used color on the lips.

It is not a creamy or glossy kind of lipstick, yet it does not clump on the lips. I do not feel my lips dry with this lipstick. It stays on easily for about 5 hours on me. It looked a little dim after I had my lunch, but the lighter shade was still there for another 2 hours. By the time it faded, it left my lips a little dry; until then I had not felt any issues with this product. Only towards the end I used a little lip balm.

This is a perfect lipstick for my usually dry lips.

PROS:

  • Non sticky texture.
  • Easy application, no clumping.
  • Twist up tube packaging.
  • Travel friendly product.
  • Good staying power.
  • Suits my dry lips too.
  • Very cheap in its price.
  • No shimmers in this particular shade.
  • Just 2 swipes will give the complete pigmentation of the color.

CONS:

  • Not easily available every where.
  • Only Avon members have access to the products.
  • Leaves the lips a little dry when it fades.

Rating: 4/5
