Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse Review, Photos and Swatch

by Venetha

Hi friends,
We all love to be dolled up and pretty all the time right šŸ™‚ We are naturally blessed with so much beauty that everyone is a princess. Enhancing our beauty is what the makeup does and the most widely sought after product is foundation. It provides an even and perfect look. Lakme launches the Absolute range a while ago and it has caught the attention of many. I purchased the Lakme Absolute mattreal skin natural mousse from the range and I will be reviewing the same here.

lakme absolute, mousse, foundation, review

Claims of the Mousse:

This mousse to powder formula delivers a feather-light finish giving you breathable natural skin. While its weightless formulation hides pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone to leave skin peachy soft all through the day.

  • Lasts up to 16 hours
  • Feather-light texture
  • SPF 8

Price:Ā

Rs. 575 for 25 grams

Shade Reviewed:

Ivory fair

My Take onĀ Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse:

The foundation comes in a really cute spherical tub that I simply adore. Looks wise, it is very different from anything else in the market. I love the color and the reflective surface. But the tub packaging leads to quite a mess every time I dig into the product. Some of the mousse gets stuck on the edges too which annoys me a lot.

Coming to the texture, it feels like dream when touched between fingers šŸ™‚ It is so perfectly whipped, light and silky that it feels unreal to even touch it. When applied on the face, it is such an ease to work with; it just spreads so well. The finishing look is totally matte. The face looks naturally bright and doesn’t look cakey.

Medium coverage is what I would describe it as, but that is more than enough since none would want to be seen with an extremely made up face all the time. However if you have dark pigmentation around your eyes or nose, then it won’t cover it up so well. The foundation gives a flawless finish and the pores are less evident. You need not set the product with powder as it is good and matte on its own.

This is best suited for oily skinned beauties as the face remains oil free for a long time. Dry skinned girls will also find it good, provided they moisturize really well before. The staying power is totally jaw dropping. The foundation stays put for the entire day, I mean literally and there was only very little fading. It is water proof to a certain extent. It kept my face fresh and oiliness was under control too. If you are going to be outdoors the entire time, then you will have to touch up and the staying power may not be that great.

The foundation smells strongly of orange peel or something like that. I get reminded of Ponds oil control talc. The fragrance is quite strong.

They claim it has SPF 8 but who are you kidding! This is such a negligible amount of sun protection that was rather not present in the first place. You cannot skip your regular sun screen at any cost.

There are only 3 shades available. It is high time Lakme thought about changing this trend of offering only a few shades to choose from. Make sure you try it on and pick the right one while purchasing; otherwise it is going to look hideous.

Why I like this Foundation?:

  • Light and silky texture
  • Easy to blend
  • Gives a natural smooth matte finish – perfect for oily skin
  • Waterproof/sweat proof
  • Controls oil
  • Medium coverage

Why I don’t like this Foundation?:

  • Limited shades
  • No list of ingredients

MABH Rating:

4.5/5

Overall Verdict:

Rightly said, ‘makeup that doesn’t look made up’. Oily skinned beauties are sure to love this one.

Nivea Med Protection Lip Balm SPF 15 Review

by Venetha

Hi my friends!
We generally keep a few beauty staples that we reach out to often in our handbag. Ask any girl what such a makeup essential is and she will be quick to answer ā€œLip balm!ā€ This is one small wonder that is really handy to keep our lips in good shape. Healthy lips are a reflection of a happy body. Today I will be reviewing the Nivea med protection lip balm which was the first lip balm I had ever purchased.

Claims of the Lip Balm:

The formula with the natural ingredients bisabol and wheat germ oil support the lips’ natural moisturisation process and protect them before they crack. NIVEA Lip Care Med Protection is a must-have in dry conditions.

  • Strengthens the resistance of your lips against external influences.
  • Gives long lasting moisture
  • Provides extra care and protection
  • Contains SPF 15, protection against UVA and UVB rays

Price:

Rs. 145 for 4.8 grams

My Take onĀ Nivea Med Protection Lip Balm:

The lip balm comes in a twisting type tube that is hassle free unlike the ones that come in tubs. The packaging is nothing extraordinary.

The lip balm itself is yellowish in color in the tube but it goes on clear when applied; no color tints. Just one or two swipes across the lip are sufficient. It is a little heavy or waxy and doesn’t get absorbed easily. I can feel a waxy film sitting on top of my lips. It has a very mild peppermint like fragrance but it has nothing to do with the flavor. It has no taste as such, so no worries about licking it off like I do with my fruit flavored lip balms šŸ˜›

I made a small research regarding the ingredients and came to know that bisabol is an extract from chamomile flowers. It has anti inflammatory and cell regenerative properties. Just like the lip balm is supposed to work, it heals and repairs lips in a matter of few days which is amazing. I use this product when my lips get extremely dry and chapped. I apply it before I go to bed and leave it on overnight. My lips feel better and softer when I wake up in the morning.

Our lips are really delicate and get easily damaged by the sun. This is where lip products with sun protection come to our rescue. SPF 15 in this lip balm is really cool. Ā It is ideal to layer under your lipstick or wear it alone if you are not into the tinted chap sticks.

Why I like this Lip Balm?:

  • Heals and softens chapped lips
  • Sun protection – SPF 15
  • Tube type chap stick which is hygienic
  • Travel friendly
  • Lasts quite long
  • Reasonable pricing

Why I don’t like this Lip Balm?:

  • Waxy and heavy on lips

MABH Rating: 3/5

Final Verdict:Ā

I would personally prefer this only when my lips are screaming out for help. Otherwise I am good to go with other lighter tinted lip balms.

L’Oreal Professional Serie Expert Sensi Balance Shampoo Review

Hi friends,

The climate is getting hotter day by day and it is taking a heavy toll on my hair and skin. My hair used to be soft and manageable but right now it is lifeless and dull. I have thin hair and my scalp gets itchy because of the hot summer. During my recent visit to a parlour, I told about these issues to my hair dresser and she suggested the L’Oreal Professional Serie Expert Sensi balance shampoo. Here is its review.

Ingredients:

It is a long list of chemical, so I have attached a picture for you to view.

Price and Quantity:

Rs. 500 for 250 ml.

My Take:

The shampoo comes in a sturdy transparent plastic bottle with a cap that does not leak. The nozzle is quite big so one has to be careful while using it.

The shampoo is a clear liquid that is quite runny as you can see in the picture. It has a chemical fragrance like that of spirit. It is just bearable but many may find it hard. It does not give a rich lather and this result in a lot of product wastage. If you oil your hair before washing, then you will have to shampoo your hair a few more times than usual to remove any residue.

It gives a very mild cooling sensation when applied. It makes my hair and scalp squeaky clean. The product build up caused by styling can be removed using this. It controlled all the itchiness I faced due to heat and pollution. The hair looks more voluminous after shampooing. It will not provide moisture for the already dry hair. I used a good conditioner and that took care of the mild drying effect of the shampoo. I will use the shampoo as long as the summer lasts.

PROS:

  • Cleans hair and scalp thoroughly
  • Boosts the volume of hair
  • Clears product build up
  • Controls scalp irritations

CONS:

  • Price is on the higher side
  • Might not suit dry haired people
  • Contains SLS and parabens

Rating:

4/5

Overall verdict:

It is a good clarifying shampoo. Though it seems costly, the amount of product we get compensates for it.
