Chennai’s weather is getting sillier day by day. I am currently having a love-hate relationship with the weather over here. Sometimes it is cold, sometimes hot and sometimes, it is raining. The next day it is Mr.sun’s rule. Uff :O C’mmon chennai, I want only rain not the sun 🙁 Okay let us come to the topic now. Today, I am going to review the Tips & Toes Dramatic Gel Eyeliner which I got a month ago. I am bored of liquid, pencil and pen eyeliners hence was very excited to try this one when I got it at first. Let me share my experience with this eyeliner with you all in this review.

Usage Directions:
Dip the brush in the gel provided & apply on the lash line from the inner to outer corner of the eyes.
After every use, clean the brush properly and replace it back.

Results: You get a dark, striking and dramatic look.

My Experience:

Packaging: This black eye liner comes in a mini glass tub (One rupee coin sized) with a screw open black lid. The lid consists of another sleek screw type opening at the top, where the applicator is located. The brush is flat and is of good quality. The packaging makes the product convenient to use, study and travel friendly. As the brush is stored over the top of the lid itself, it is easy to carry the product anywhere; thus there are less possibilities we miss the brush. This gel eyeliner is placed inside a thin plastic sheeted outer carton. I simply like the packaging; no complaints.

The flat brush applicator:

Colour, Consistency, Texture & Pigmentation: This is a dark black gel eyeliner which is creamy, smooth and shine free. Though being smooth and creamy, it settles into a matte finish (but not powdery). The pigmentation part is really good that you only need a single swipe to get that dark black colour.

Swatches:

How it works: I apply this gel eyeliner on my upper lash line as instructed and I could say that the applicator brush makes it easy to use even for gel eyeliner beginners. It dries in a jiffy and hence, no mess. The only thing I felt odd about this eyeliner is the flat and thick brush. Flat is alright for me but the brush is a bit thick thus causing the inability of drawling thin lines on my lash line. However I can use it to line my eyes thick and beautiful for parties and occasions. I haven’t tried this over my waterline or lower lash line yet. The staying power of this gel eyeliner impressed me a lot for the price; It stays for 8 hours very well without any fading and after that, fades a little. Sometimes I even manage to wear it 10+ hours and it stays very well. It is water resistant and waterproof as per the claims.
Unless you rub your eyes so vigorously when it is wet, it wouldn’t fade off at all. Overall, I am happy with this gel eyeliner as it fulfils most of my wishes for an eyeliner. It is dark black, hence suitable for everyday usage. It stays for a long time and doesn’t fade due to sweat, hence makes a good rainy season wear as all. Even though the quantity of 2ml is very less, I wouldn’t regret buying it for the worth. A single tub would last for 2 months with regular usage. The sooner you finish is better because it might get dried off being a gel liner.

  • Dries very quickly hence you don’t need to sit under fan.
  • Makes a great daily wear eyeliner
  • Reasonable price
  • Easily available
  • Water resistant and water proof as claimed
  • Stays more than 8 hours without fading
  • Doesn’t sting eyes
  • The applicator brush provided is of good quality
  • Settles into a beautiful non-powdery matte finish
  • Travel friendly and easy to use packaging

CONS

  • Only one shade available and that is black; I want more shades!
  • You cannot draw thin lines with the brush provided, but then it is not a big con for me.

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 4.5/5

Do I Recommend: Ofcourse yes! If you are a daily black eyeliner wearer, get one for you and you will love it. Oily eyelids and sweaty people may also like it as it is true to its claims of being waterproof.

Would I Repurchase: Why not? I will do until I find a better eyeliner with an affordable price tag similar to this.

I would like to apologize in advance if my review is sounding a little boring today. I am not keeping well and all I would like to do is sleep. However, I didn’t want to postpone this review and keep you all away from an amazing product.

In my last review, I had mentioned that I am using an aloe vera gel which is better than the Just Herb’s one (personally for me). This was introduced to me by a very good friend of mine who also has her own blog. I am in love with this gel I and am sure it will be a hit amongst you all too. I find this reasonably priced because I have been using a tub for the last 2 months and the quantity which is left would last me another 2 🙂

Also, aloe vera gel taken from the plant directly does not suit all and causes itching of the skin. This doesn’t have any side effects as such.

Price & Quantity: Rs 150 for 100 ml

Ingredients: Aloe Vera and Lemon Extracts

Shelf Life: 1 year

My Experience with Rustic Art Aloe Vera Gel:

Packaging: It comes in a sturdy transparent plastic jar with a white lid and a screw top. It is small and will fit in your handbags easily.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance/Texture: The gel is transparent in colour, which is how natural aloe vera gel actually looks. It is a lightweight gel which smells faintly of lemon.

How it works: I love the gel. It’s my moisturizer for all seasons. I use it as a night cream, day cream. You name it! I have been using it for the past 2 months and this is the only gel which doesn’t irritate my skin or inflame it 🙂 I sometimes mix it with a little water and apply it all over my face. 10 seconds and its completely absorbed. The days when my eyes feel tired, I apply it all under my eyelids. It’s cooling (lasts about 10 seconds) and slightly fades away the dark circles. It has lemon which has anti-bacterial properties and acts as an astringent. This is a natural aloe vera gel in a plastic box 🙂

PROS :

  • Can be used as an antiseptic gel
  • Has anti-bacterial properties
  • Soothing for skin rashes
  • Doesn’t irritate sensitive skin unlike natural aloe vera gel
  • No added chemicals
  • No animal testing
  • No animal ingredient
  • No fragrance
  • No colour
  • Gets absorbed so fast
  • Keeps skin hydrated
  • Reduces dark circles
  • Adds a light glow to face
  • One tub comes for atleast 3 months

CONS:

  • Unhygienic tub packaging 🙁
  • I am not so sure about the ‘tan removing properties’

Rating: 4.9/5 (I removed 0.1 point just for the packaging.)

Do I Recommend: Yes Yes Yes 🙂 Sensitive skinned people will especially love this. My friend who used natural aloe vera gel(directly from the plant) complained of a burning sensation. So, I suggested this gel to her and she really found it better.

Would I Repurchase?: Absolutely Yes!

NYX Color Lip Balm in Grazie Review & Swatches

Lip balm is one product which I cannot live without. Be it summer or winter, I want a lip balm in my handbag anytime. Adding up a fact that is winter now, where the breeze is cold and lovely 🙂 I have already started stocking up lip balms in my beauty case in a great speed. For this winter, I definitely want a lip balm of every kind; Hmm like what? I want a transparent one of heavy moisturizing creamy kind, a tinted one which looks natural on my lips, a colour changing one, a favorite smelling one, a sweet one 😛 and the list goes on. (Such a lip balm freak I am!) If I get 2 or more qualities mentioned above in a single lip balm, that would be a sweetie pie for me and that particular lip balm will take place in my beauty case, stay there for a long time 😛
Fine without further lip balm stories of mine, let me come to the point. Today, I am going to review the NYX Grazie lip balm. These NYX color lip balms come in 12 different shades, and somehow I liked this particular shade Grazie’s swatch and ending up in picking this. I wanted few more shades from this range too but the price made me to think more than twice and I skipped the idea for then. Shall we move on to the review now?

Price & Quantity: $3.75 for 4g on their main website (It is somewhere between Rs.500 to Rs.600 in India; I am not sure though)

My Experience with NYX Grazie:

Packaging: One of the main reasons I picked this lip balm is its packaging. This NYX color lip balms comes in a simple but yet an attractive black coloured (Black is my most favorite colour!) tube with a screw cap. It is a screw bottomed lip balm which is easy to use and shuts tightly without any hardness. Overall, I could say that the packaging is simple, attractive, easy to use and travel friendly. I have not even a single complaint with its packaging.

Colour, Texture, Fragrance & Pigmentation: As per the NYX website, Grazie is a red shade with pink undertones. I felt the same with the colour. It has no blue undertones and yet, would perfectly suit Asian skin tones. It is a fresh rosy red shade with a smooth and rich texture that spreads easily over lips. It doesn’t have any sort of shimmers. The pigmentation is better when compared to other few lip balms in the market but it cannot cover highly pigmented lips. (Isn’t that a greedy expectation from a lip balm 😛 huh?!) It has a sweet, fruity (Cherry and strawberry mixed in my viw) fragrance which is on medium-strong range; I don’t bother though and thank god for making this balm tasteless! It will escape from my tongue and stay longer 😛

How it works: To say in single line, this has become my HG lip balm now. I just need a kajal and this lip balm to step out. This leaves my lips soft, moisturized and fresh with that delicious looking red rose shade. I love the way how it shows up on my lips and make it fuller. There is no sticky or waxy feel left behind. The colour spreads smoothly and doesn’t settle into lines on lips. The staying power is good; it stays for 3-4 hours on my lips without food or water intake, leaving a subtle tint behind that looks natural. And with food or water intake, it fades away in less than 3 hours. In hard winter days, I definitely have to reapply this lip balm once in atleast 2 hours to help my lips stay moisturized.
Many of the tinted lip balms I own disappoints me by not showing up any tint on my lips and it bothered me a lot till I picked this NYX color lip balm. Now I am totally satisfied with this product from NYX. It not only provides a beautiful tint to my lips, but also help my lips stay soft and moisturized for a decent time. If you’re the one who don’t like to wear lipsticks everday, then go for this lip balm and you will not regret at all. It looks completely natural on the lips more than a lipstick and also provides a good colour payoff and moisture. The price may be on higher side for a lip balm, but I am completely loving it! Once I finish this Grazie shade, I am planning to pick some other shades from their collection. Don’t forget to pick atleast one from their collection of color lip balms if you are a lip balm freak like me! 😀

PROS:

  • Simple, attractive, easy to use and travel friendly packaging
  • Hygienic to use as it comes in a tube with a screw bottom; and not a tub
  • Glides smoothly onto the lips and instantly moisturizes
  • The colour payoff is really good
  • This fresh red rose shade would be perfect for everyday wear
  • Suits almost every skin tone
  • This particular shade Grazie is absolutely gorgeous
  • Leaves a beautiful tint behind even after fading away
  • I loved the medium to strong sweet fruity smell!
  • They have 12 different colours to choose from!
  • A single tube lasts for more than a month
  • A great replacement to everyday lipsticks as it is well pigmented

CONS:

I seriously have no big con to mention about this (My HG) product but still, few things those bother me a little are..

  • Its price ofcourse! Everyone cannot spend 500 bucks on a lip balm. Right?
  • I loved the strong fruity fragrance but still sensitive noses may not like it much.
  • It tends to melt in very hot summers hence you should store it in refrigerator.
  • I expect a better staying power of 4-5 hours or even more, atleast for the price!

Rating: 4/5 (-0.5 for the price and -0.5 for the strong fragrance)

Do I Recommend?: If you’re a lip balm freak, go pick one for sure and you will definitely love it 🙂 I highly recommend this lip balm as it is well pigmented and shows up on the lips when compared to other tinted lip balms in the market.

Would I Repurchase?: Yes! I am so loving this lip balm and going to try the other shade from their NYX Color lip balm collection. Did you notice something? All their 12 shades have the names which means ‘Thank you’ in different languages. 🙂
