Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel Review

by Shruti

To me mint means summer. Mint drinks, mint face packs and mint chutney; I was as usual bored with my soap and was surfing the net (my bank account must have been weeping then). I saw this green bottle looking so tempting. I caught on the words mint and tea tree and my heart said “Go get it Shruti.. Just one shower gel” but my mind said ” Are you jobless? No right! Get back to coding”
In the end, the heart won over my mind (as usual) and in 2 days I had it in my bathroom. A word of caution- this is for summer and not for winter. Better late than never. So, here is my take on it 🙂

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel Review

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel Review

Price and Quantity:

Rs.195 for 250 ml

Ingredients:

Too many:( So I have included the picture for this;)

Shelf Life:

3 years from date of manufacturing.
But I am sure you will finish this in a month. Especially in summers.

My Experience:

Packaging: What do you call this shape? Hexagon? I counted the sides. It has 6. So let’s call it a modified hexagon 😉 I love everything about this bottle. The bottle is actually transparent so it’s easy to identify how much is left. And it’s plastic! I think unbreakable too! ( no, I didn’t throw it on my bathroom floor) It has a flip top with a small nozzle. You can keep it upright or in a sleeping position. When it’s upright, the bottle doesn’t leak.

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel Review

Color, Consistency & Fragrance: The shower gel is neither thick nor runny. It’s a refreshing leaf green in colour. It smells minty with a hint of tea tree.

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel Review

How it works: Well, to begin with, it doesn’t lather. Yes, all you lather lovers who think if it doesn’t lather, then you are not clean will find this behavior a tad disappointing. To me, it just feels like a gel cream when applied. I have used it with and without a loofah. Same results both times. The smell however is uplifting.
I have not even come to the best part. This tingles man! Not for long but it does. It tingles till you wash it off and stays for about 5 minutes after that. I take bath with this in the nights 🙂 I have to moisturize my skin after this though.

Note: I don’t use any soap or shower gel for my face. I use a medicated face cleanser. So I don’t know how this fares on the face.

PROS:

  • Great for summer
  • It’s got mint and tea tree oil- whose benefits we shall talk about in another post:)
  • The bottle is recyclable.( I know you are thinking. Hey, a pro is a pro)
  • It’s tested on them and I think not on animals.
  • It’s vegan 🙂

CONS:

  • Though it says natural, it’s got chemicals.
  • Availability
  • Doesn’t lather
  • Need a moisturizer after it.

Rating: 3/5

Do I Recommend?:

I am conflicted. For me, it was an impulsive purchase. But buy it if you like tea tree and mint and that cool pepperminty feel. However, it would be good for summers.

Would I Repurchase?:

No. Like I said before, it was an impulsive buy. There are many more shower gels which are waiting for me.

Garnier Body Cocoon Intense Moisture Lotion Review

Hello ladies,

I am back again with my second review but before that I would like to thank you all for the support I received and having me on board. Today I will be reviewing a moisturizing lotion. I wanted to get this done before time runs out for the Chennaiites to enjoy what little of the so-called winter they get.

Garnier Body Cocoon Intense Moisture Lotion Review

I have very dry skin that yearns for pampering even in Chennai’s winter. I have been for sometime on the lookout for a good moisturizer and that is when I came across one by Garnier. Then again I prefer picking up drug store products over high end and check how they fare. In the past I have used Pond’s, Vaseline cocoa, Jergens, Nivea and a couple more of drug store ones.
I wanted to try something new this winter and so picked up this one, Garnier Body Cocoon. Lets see how well it worked or did not work for me.

Price & Quantity:

Rs 105 for 125 ml.

Key Ingredients:

The key ingredients are nutritive fruit oils from apricots, olives, blackcurrants and avocados. And a whole lot of chemicals and of course the infamous parabens!!!!

Usage Directions?:

Use wherever possible but do not apply on face.

Shelf Life:

36 months from the date of manufacture.

My Experience:

This lotion is packed in a cute orange coloured bottle with a flip cap. It is a sturdy bottle and hence travel friendly. No mess; no complaints.

Garnier Body Cocoon Intense Moisture Lotion Review

The colour is a nice pearly white. The texture is creamy yet light as the bottle claims. The fragrance too is mild and fruity and sweet and florally. All in one I think but is nice. Not in the least over powering.

Garnier Body Cocoon Intense Moisture Lotion Review

Like I mentioned before I have extremely dry skin that screams for attention even in summers leave alone winters, even Chennai’s winters. And I easily get bored using the same product so I wanted to try something new and also easy on the pocket. The routine of moisturisng immediately after my bath has to be tediously followed else my skin stretches and it does neither look pretty nor feel pretty. So this is in my routine right now. I use it just out of the shower all over except face and I must say that I am quite pleased with it.
The texture is creamy as claimed but light and with a little rubbing it seeps into the skin leaving it nice and soft. The moisturizing effect too is quite good I must say. The skin feels nourished and there is a nice glowy look that lingers on for long. It is not greasy too. It is definitely a great buy for bedtime moisturizing routine. The skin does not feel too dry the next day too but you must remember that I have extremely dry skin. It will work really well for normal to dry skin I think. However, I am not sure of the oily skin ladies. Even for people with extremely dry skin like me it might only need a reapplication depending on how harsh the winter is. Overall I like the product but am not over whelmed by it 🙂 I will be checking out for something else next winter. And, I still prefer my Vaseline cocoa glow over this one. At least for the way that smells!! Have any one of you tried that?

PROS:

  • First and foremost, the price!!
  • It is available online on most sites.
  • The packaging and smell is pleasant and travel friendly too.
  • The consistency is creamy but not oily and heavy.
  • A little goes a long way if used immediately after shower.
  • It does nourish dry skin as it claims.
  • The skin feels soft for long.
  • This lotion is not greasy

CONS:

  • The smell does not linger on for long.
  • It needs reapplication for extremely dry skin like me.
  • Parabens!!! (I don’t think I mind though!)

Rating: 4/5 (-1 as it is not good enough for extremely dry skinned people).

Do I Recommend?:

I would absolutely recommend this to anybody who has dry skin and also normal skin. Those with extremely dry skin too can benefit greatly from it but might need reapplication.

Would I Repurchase?:

I am not sure if I’d repurchase it for myself. I like trying new stuff unless it is something that just cannot be replaced. I think that I should be able to find something next year.

Until next time..
Stay beautiful and smile always!

Vaadi Herbals Lavender & Rosemary Face Scrub Review

by Radha

Hello Beauties,

Today I am going to review the Vaadi Face Scrub. This is my current favorite facial scrub. I have an oily skin and it is easy for me to get black heads often. So, for me it is necessary to use a face scrub weekly thrice to maintain a clear skin. I was using Himalaya Face scrub before and got bored of it. Lavender is my favourite; also it is good for sensitive skin. So, I have bought this one from Vaadi. Let me give my detailed review on it.

Vaadi Herbals Lavender & Rosemary Face Scrub Review

My Experience:

The packing is simple and cute. It comes in a white colored tub which is handy to carry in travel. The tub has scroll type lid which makes it easy to handle. Overall, the packaging is good; but still it is a ‘tub’ so you need to be careful while using to be maintain hygiene.

Vaadi Herbals Lavender & Rosemary Face Scrub Review

This face scrub is in light lavender colour and the smell of the lavender dominates too. The fragrance can be said just awesome; I loved it so much. The texture of the face scrub is creamy with small scrubbing granules.

I am using so many Vaadi Herbals products already, hence Vaadi Herbals is not a new brand for me. I was expecting so much from this face scrub. My skin an oily-sensitive one. So, I had full hope that this face scrub will help me to improve my skin texture. I usually scrub my facial skin thrice a week if there are no pimples. I am using this face scrub for more than a month now. The first good thing about this face scrub is that it didn’t cause any new breakout on my face. After scrubbing and washing my face I can feel the instant smoothness on my skin. It leaves my skin so soft and clean within minutes.

On the other hand, it didn’t cause any dryness on my face too. This face scrub helps me a lot to get rid of unwanted black heads and dead cells very well. It removes them up to a very good extent. The scrubbing granules are not that much harsh on my skin. I love this facial scrub from Vaadi Herbals a lot and it has became my winter favorite face scrub now 🙂

  • It doesn’t leave skin dry or tight.
  • It is very gentle even on sensitive skin types.
  • This face scrub smells just awesome.
  • Goodness of lavender and rosemary improves skin texture a lot.
  • This face scrub leaves skin very clean and so soft.
  • I experienced no allergy or irritation.
  • Affordable.

CONS:

  • The tub packaging is a big minus. Digging my fingers inside the tub every time irritates me.
  • Availability, I can get this only through online.
