The Body Shop Born Lippy Lip Balm Raspberry Review

Hey All!

If there is one brand for which I am ready to blow up tons of money and indulge myself, it’s The Body Shop. And if nothing else, ONLY because their products smell SO good! I love it when I walk into the shop and it has a lovely combination of floral and citrusy scents. I can go on and on about my love for this brand (even though I own nothing but this lip balm!) so let’s just get straight into the review 🙂

Price:

Rs 205 when I bought it. Not sure if it’s still the same or if they have hiked it.

Quantity:

8.5g (10 ml)

Ingredients:

My Take:

The lip balm comes in a tub packaging. Though it looks decently pigmented in the tub, as you can see in the swatch, it is extremely sheer. I found this disappointing because given the price, I would have liked at least some color payoff. I haven’t given a lip swatch with this review because I’m embarrassed to share it with you all – this lip balm does absolutely nothing for my pigmented lips 🙁

I think it’s needless to say that the lip balm smells incredible. (You must have guessed that from my crazy introduction to this review!) It really has a lovely raspberry scent which I absolutely adore. Sometimes I just open it to smell it 😛

The lip balm is quite shiny on the lips and looks a bit like a low shine semi clear lip gloss.

The biggest drawback of this lip balm is that it doesn’t moisturize! I was really upset when I first applied this and my lips (which are naturally dry and VERY prone to chapping) didn’t show any signs of moisturisation at all. I have heard that The Body Shop lip products in general do not measure up with other brands’ lip products of the same price range, and I really found this lip balm unacceptable. It’s been a year since I bought it and its lying almost as good as new.

PROS:

  • Quantity is decent given the price
  • Amazing fragrance (may be a con for some though!)
  • Has a semi-glossy finish and shine

CONS:

  • Does not hydrate dry lips at all
  • Tub packaging isn’t as convenient to use as tube packaging
  • Not much colour payoff (this is a con for me, but its subjective)
  • A bit expensive relative to other lip balms in the market

Rating: 2.5/5

Final Word:

The Body Shop charges a relatively high price for its Born Lippy lip balm and unfortunately fails to deliver in terms of moisturisation and pigmentation. If you would like to try this out, you are welcome to, but I would not be repurchasing this – partly because I don’t think its worthy of a repurchase and partly because I’ll never use it all up 😛 My apologies to The Body Shop, but this lip balm just doesn’t measure up. (However much it hurts me to say this!)

7 L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Matte Mania Lipsticks Swatches and Photos

Hello everyone!

Recently, I reviewed the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche lipstick in Shade Pink Passion. If you had read that review, you must be knowing how much I loved the texture, pigmentation and quality of that lipstick. I have been using it often to complete my makeup look.

Two days back, I got myself 6 other shades from their matte mania range and I am going to show you the swatches today! Yes.. Swatches of 7 awesome lipsticks from L’Oreal Paris Matte Mania Range. Enjoy the piccys!

Out of 7 lipsticks I own, 6 are intense colors and two are natural shades.

Price: Rs. 825 for 4.7 g

They all come in a classy golden bullet with a twist up bottom. The packaging looks elegant and beautiful. I loved it!

The shade names and numbers are mentioned on the bottom of every lipstick bullet.

Shades From Right to Left: (On the picture below)

  • Deep Raspberry
  • Silky Toffee
  • Velvel Rose
  • Crazy Fuchsia
  • Intense Plum
  • Pink Passion
  • Perfect Red

From L to R: Velvet Rose, Silky Toffee, Deep Raspberry

Swatches:

About the shades:

  • Silky Toffee 381: A well pigmented nude brown shade to pair up with smokey, heavy kohled eyes.
  • Velvel Rose 378: A lovely pink nude shade that would suit medium-pale skinned girls.
  • Crazy Fuchsia 370: A bright blue toned fuchsia pink which is very subtle and wearable on lips.
  • Intense Plum 374: As per the name, it is a deep plum shade that brightens up face instantly.
  • Pink Passion 371: A neon pink shade with a hint of coral that settles into beautiful wearable pink.
  • Perfect Red 377: A hot red, well pigmented shade with warm undertones.

P.S: All the 7 shades are very well pigmented, buttery and shimmer-free. They settle into a matte-satin finish and the staying power is just awesome! Each shade is beautiful on its own and you won’t regret picking these matte mania babies from L’Oreal Color Riche Range. If you have dark and dry lips, these are must! I am soon going to review all these shades individually here. Stay tuned! So, which shade lipstick would you like to try from this range? Comment below!

VLCC Daily Protect Mango Lip Balm Review and Swatches

by Arpita

Lip Balm has become a necessity for me. My lips are of the normal kind and are almost without any pigmentation (*touchwood*). When I first saw this Mango lip balm at my local cosmetic store, I could not stop myself from buying it. Let us find out if it worked for me.

Ingredients, Description, Other Information: Please refer to the images.( Actually it is not worth knowing coz you will not be purchasing this after you read this review 😛 )

Price and Quanity:

Rs. 49 for 4 g

My Take:

Well, the lip balm is moisturizing for my normal lips but dry lips will need something better than this one. It has a staying power, which is a maximum of 1 hour. It creates a yellowish layer onto the lips, which looks really un-natural and weird. I just do not like the packaging as well. If you pull out a bit more of the balm, then putting it back is slightly difficult. In addition, it melts down during the summer time and hence, I need to keep it refrigerated all the time.

I will not recommend it because I do not like reapplying my lip balms and its fragrance is too artificial for my taste. I will not recommend it also because I know we cannot carry our refrigerators with us everywhere we go  😛

Summing up the detailed pros and cons- (I know most of you only read the pros and cons 😛 and thus, I have explained each point nicely for you :))

PROS:

  • This lip balm is very affordable. The quantity you get at the price is great.
  • It contains SPF 15. Thus, this lip balm helps in protection of the lips from the harmful sun rays too!
  • It does not feel heavy on the lips. It is not too much waxy or anything and just provides the right amount of moisture for my normal lips.

CONS:

  • The lip balm is yellow in color. If you try to swipe it more than twice on your lips, then, be sure to have yellow lips 😛
  • Packaging is a turn off for me. The twist up kind of bottom is too loose and gets stuck sometimes which is a total boo from my side.
  • This lip balm has a very low staying power of about 1 hour. You need to keep reapplying it every one hour. I am simply not Okay with it.
  • It melts down badly during the hot summer months. It is too soft and if you exert even slightly more pressure, the bullet will break and it will be a pain to join it back.
  • Dry lips should stay away from this one, as it will not do anything for you.
  • This lip balm breaks into chunks on your lips while you apply it and thus gives you a very uneven application.
  • Fragrance that has been added to this lip balm is quite artificial.

Final Verdict:
It is a very average type of lip balm which will not help you out much and I will only recommend it to you if you do not mind reapplying it every one hour and if you want yellow colored lips 😛

Rating: 2/5

Do I Recommend?:

I will give my answer with a very simple word- NO. Sometimes saying No is very important in life too.

Will I Repurchase?:

Yes, only if need a yellow colored lip balm, someday 😛 I am going back to my favorite Baby Lips by Maybelline. If you are a mango lover, then please skip this!
