Vaseline Lip Care Rosy Glow Strawberry Frost Review

by Dharu

All I knew of Vaseline in lip care was their petroleum jelly until I saw this pretty pinkish red tube on their counter. I always trusted Vaseline; I was new to lip glosses so I picked it up.  Believe me now I have so many lippies but the first ever was lip gloss only. Guess we have few who always got their hand first on glosses and then go for lippies 😉

Product Description:

  • Soft pink tint and glossy lips
  • 24 hour moisturised lips

How to Use?:

Apply it on top of your lipstick or bare lips for a soft pink tint

Price:

Rs. 60 with shelf life of 2 years.

Strawberry frost

My Take on Vaseline Lip Care Rosy Glow Strawberry Frost:

Packaging: It comes in a plastic transparent tube, with a transparent screw cap with a slanted tip as usual. The strawberry frost is the only variety available in this one. Also you can’t find that name anywhere on the tube but only on the outer cover. Totally beats me.

Colour: It is a beautiful strawberry red but more pinker. It has golden shimmer in it. Seriously why golden shimmers? The tint is really good but very subtle. I won’t advice using this without at least a swipe of your lippy.

Texture: The texture is extremely glossy but it is the first ever lip gloss which didn’t feel sticky to me. So Yay! But the gloss always gets separated from the color so it has to be shaken before use.. feels like tonic doesn’t it?

Staying Power: The lip gloss disappears immediately as you eat something so but if not it stays for 5 hours if you are not talkative. I used it to travel to Bangalore one and it stayed for 6 hours. And the moisturisation stayed for 8 hours that is if you are not using your mouth in any way. It was a night journey so otherwise it only stays for 4 hours maximum.

Fragrance: This is the good part. Strawberries all the way. Yummy!

On My lips:

I have worn this without anything. See it barely gives tint. My bottom lip colour is better. God I got pigmented so badly guys on my top lip which is increasing day by day even if I moisturise them and scrub regularly. Any suggestions?

Why I like this Lip Balm?:

  • Excellent pinky red colour
  • Non sticky to me at least
  • Easy on pocket
  • Non pigmented lips (Like mine a year back.. crying) will love this
  • Smell is so yummy
  • Easily available
  • Good moisturisation if your mouth is not busy (wink)

Why I don’t like this Lip Balm?:

  • Pigmentation is not so good
  • Highlights pigmented lips see how mine look here.. Crying again
  • The name is not given on the tube so a bit confusing
  • Disappears as you eat something
  • Only one shade is available so why have the pain to give it so many names?

MABH Rating: 3.5/5

Do I Recommend?:

Ya may be for starters in lip department who are looking for slight tints to check with their colours. It can be worn on top of a lip stick. No sticky lip gloss lovers and not for talkative ladies. Sorry girls I love you but Vaseline doesn’t seem to (wink)!

Would I Repurchase?:

I don’t know. This is going to take time for me to finish. I am more a matte lip lover! See how much is left still?

VOV Lipstick Shade 08 Fruit Punch Review

by Dharu

This is the best coral lipstick I own till date. You all know how much I love VOV products. I got this lipstick when I was in Bangalore. I wanted something coral but all I had were extremely peachy and I wanted something in redder but more daily wear shade. I used this first when I came to Chennai and have been using ever since. I love Elle 18 Rusty Lipstick but that one as well is extremely peachy. And you won’t believe how many browns I have.

Product Description:

Pure coral with moisturising base to give perfect pouts

How to Use?:

Apply on a lip balm or directly for intense colour.

Price:

Rs. 120

Fruit Punch (There is a spelling mistake guys don’t mind)

My Take on VOV Lipstick Shade 08 Fruit Punch:

Packaging: This lipstick comes in a dark grey metallic shaded plastic case with a bit of gold on top. It has its name in the down part with number. But the shade that is given is not the colour code guys. It looks so cute and chick. I love the packaging and it is extremely travel friendly.

Colour: It is pure coral. It is basically pink with red and orange undertones. The color is beautiful and gives full coverage. One swipe will give such awesome tint and when worn without balm, it looks matte but doesn’t dry out lips at all. This lipstick is very apt for office wear and makes my face glowy and bright.

Texture: It is quite soft but doesn’t break easily like Elle 18 ones. Thank god. It glides on without tugging and doesn’t bleed. It may settle in lines for dry lips so make sure you properly scrub and keep your lips moisturized.

Staying power: It stayed for 3 hours alone and 4 hours when applied with a balm or a gloss. Survives 1 meal and the stain stays like for 1 hour. It can be easily removed with a normal face wash.

Fragrance: Very mild vanilla kind of fragrance. Not at all irritating

On My lips:

(Worn without anything)

Why I like this Lipstick?

  • Excellent coral colour
  • Complete coverage and good pigmentation
  • Staying power is good
  • Looks matte and at the same time moisturising.
  • Cute and chic package
  • Leaves a nice stain.
  • Easily removable

Why I don’t like this Lipstick?:

  • Availability
  • Might settle in lines for dry lips.

MABH Rating: 4/5

Do I Recommend?:

Yes! Tell me yourself if you will get this or not. Availability is an issue (major issue) but if you get your hands on this you are in for a treat.

Would I Repurchase?:

I should have stocked it up. If I can get I will surely buy 2 of them since I already finished half I think. Everyday lipstick! 😉

Elle 18 Nail Pops Nail Enamel Shade 15 Review and NOTD

by Dharu

Nail polish is something I love a lot. I have good feet, so I love to give colour to it. Besides eye makeup, my hands and feet are the next thing a groom a lot. Since you already know how much I love blue, here is one color from the Elle 18 range in ice blue.

Price and Quantity:

Rs.50 for 5 ml

How to Use?:

A single swipe for glittery chic nails with a bright colour pop.

Shelf Life:

3 years

My Take on Elle 18 Nail Pops Nail Enamel Shade 15:

Packaging: It comes in a transparent glass bottle with a long cylindrical black coloured cap. The cap is really good and easy for application. I totally love the colorful chic on it. The bottle is very travel friendly and doesn’t break easily. I have dropped it a lot of times already! 😀

Colour: It is a beautiful ice blue. I am in love with this colour. I have mint colored shoes and this one goes great with them. I also pair it with yellow and black for a colour contrast. Whenever I wear a mint eye makeup I use this one as a match and pair it up with dark colours for a complete look. It has tiny glitters in the same blue colour. The pigmentation is great. On application it tends to look silver a bit so I apply with black to make it pop. One swipe gives pretty good colour.

Texture: It is smooth and takes a bit of time to dry. It can be built up into layers but I prefer two coats only. I usually wear it on top of my dazzler nail glitter which is basically a transparent polish. It helps in holding it longer and for smooth application.

Staying power: The nail color stays for around for 5 days without chipping but if I wear it on the dazzler base coat, it stays for around 12 days without chipping. Over all it is a good one though I thinking of Avon ones.

Fragrance: As usual nail polish smell. I noticed nothing else problematic with this one.

Hope you guys like my NOTD. I took of my feet since I don’t wear nail polishes on my hands usually.

Why I like this Nail Color?:

  • Excellent ice blue colour
  • Single swipe for rich colour
  • Easily available
  • Easy on pocket
  • Very travel friendly and good packaging
  • Does not chip easily.

Why I don’t like this Nail Color?:

  • I wish it stayed for longer time but I am not complaining much for 50 bucks here.

MABH Rating: 4/5

Do I Recommend?:

Yes. It is a really a cool colour but I would say no to darker skinned beauties since this might make their hands or feet look darker

Would I Repurchase?:

Definitely. I love it because I can make simplest nail arts with this one and it goes great with a LBD and mint eye. Need a tute on the eye girls?
