Lakme Color Crush True Wear Nail Polish 03 Review and Swatches

by Adi

Hello pretty ladies!
Who doesn’t like pastel nail polish? Pastels on nails are the cutest ever. And do you know what’s better than pastel? Pastel with shimmer! And that is exactly what makes Lakme color crush nail polish 03 so drool worthy! So let’s get into the review 🙂

Price and quantity:

Rs 150 for 9 ml

Shelf life:

3 years

My Take on this Nail Polish:

First and foremost, I love the packaging. It is so sleek, you actually can use the cap as a mirror! I had to angle the bottle so that the reflection of my camera didn’t show up! Lakme has really stepped up the engine on the packaging of their products. If you pay 150 bucks for a nail polish, and it looks like it’s worth 30 bucks and you picked it up from a local store, there’s really no point is there? We girls like pretty things. Or at least I do. And this one sure is pretty!

This Lakme nail polish in shade 03 is a muted pastel green which leans slightly more toward blue rather than yellow. It is a cool-toned minty sort of colour. The application is non-streaky and the brush has the perfect width. It becomes opaque in two thick coats. You may require three coats if the coats are thin. The first coat dries in less than a minute; subsequent coats take a bit longer to dry.

What I love about this shade is that it has ‘all’ the qualities necessary for a summer and monsoon nail polish. It is such a beautiful shade. It reminds me of a cool refreshing summer drink. And the silver shimmer is unbelievably cute. Like I said earlier – pastel and shimmer makes such a great combo, I am surprised it hasn’t been exploited more – imagine fine shimmer with coral or yellow or tangerine nail polish! Yum 😀

As a personal preference, I don’t like too much shimmer in nail polishes; I feel it has the potential to look slightly tacky. But this nail polish is just perfect. The shimmer is very fine, monochromatic and really blends in with the colour. In fact it provides more of a 3-d effect rather than making the polish look all shimmery. From some angles it isn’t even visible.

What I like about this Nail Polish?

  • Sleek packaging
  • Beautiful summer colour
  • Colour stays true
  • Quantity is decent given the price
  • Formula does not dry up immediately
  • Does not chip for 5 days – 1 week

What I don’t like about this Nail Polish?:

  • This shade may not suit everyone. Other than that, there are no cons as far as I can see.

MABH Rating: 5/5

Final word:

I absolutely recommend this nail polish to all you lovelies who are looking for a refreshing pastel nail polish. The only con of this is that its price is a little on the higher side and the shade may wash out some skin tones, but other than that, I see no reason to not buy this. 🙂

Vaseline Healthy White Lightening Visible Fairness Lotion Review

by Adi

Hello ladies! So I have an HG eye liner, an HG lip balm, kajal and mascara, but somehow, I have never found a moisturizer that I thought was irreplaceable. So I keep juggling between random Nivea, Avon and Vaseline moisturizers. I picked up yet another new one the other day and it is the Vaseline Healthy White Lightening Visible Fairness Lotion so that’s what I’ll be reviewing today. 🙂

Price and Quantity:

Rs 75 for 100 ml

My Take on Vaseline Healthy White Lightening Visible Fairness Lotion:

The lotion comes in a typical flat bottle packaging that most Vaseline moisturizers come in. It is a plastic bottle with a flip open cap. I don’t like the fact that the product accumulates at the mouth of the bottle, it is really messy.

It has a very light weight texture and feels quite smooth on the skin; it also blends in seamlessly and with minimal effort. The lotion has a pink tint to it and a pleasant fragrance (again characteristic of Vaseline lotions).

Now, the instant fairness claim is pretty tall and honestly I didn’t expect it to be true. So why did I buy this lotion? I don’t know if any of you girls have noticed (or maybe it’s just me who has this problem), but after applying moisturizer, my skin always looks darker. I don’t know whether it’s because my skin is hydrated and hence a bit greasy, but it definitely looks a shade darker. So that’s why the ‘instant fairness’ claim appealed to me. And in that aspect, this lotion doesn’t disappoint. My skin looks moisturized yet not darker. I think it may be because of the pink tint of the lotion.

Why I like this Body Lotion?:

  • Light texture
  • Blends very easily into the skin
  • Lightens skin very slightly on application (probably because it is tinted)
  • Reasonable price
  • Moisturizes skin, especially good for the summer months when a light moisturizer is required
  • Pleasant fragrance

Why I don’t like this Body Lotion?:

  • Does not lighten skin
  • Says it has ‘triple sunscreens’ but doesn’t mention exact sun protection
  • Will not be moisturizing enough for very dry skin or in winters
  • Product tends to accumulate at the mouth of the bottle

MABH Rating: 2.5/5

Final word:

If you’re looking for a product that gives you instant fairness, this is NOT it. The instant fairness claim is true only to a tiny extent because of the tint in the moisturizer, but it disappears very quickly. That said, this lotion still has many positives and it can serve as a pocket-friendly everyday moisturizer if that is what you are looking for.

Will I repurchase?:

Yes I may, unless I find something better. However I am yet to discover my HG moisturizer! :/

Hope you girls liked this review!

Lotus Herbals Strawberry Lip Balm Review and Swatches

by Adi

Hello ladies! How are you all doing? Today I’ll review a lip balm that somehow can’t find its way into my regularly-used lip balm stash. It is the Lotus Herbals Lip Balm in Strawberry. I saw this lying in my drawer the other day, barely used. I bought this about a year back and I began wondering why I hadn’t like it. Maybe I had misjudged it? So in a way, this review is for you as well as me! Read on to know whether this poor lip balm didn’t get the respect it deserved, or if it was rightfully ignored!

Price and quantity:

Rs 125 for 5 g

Variants available:

Strawberry, Orange, Raspberry, Fruity Fusion

My Take on the Lotus Herbals Strawberry Lip Balm:

Yes, yes the tub packaging is cute. But I don’t feel like investing in a brush for a lip balm, and I keep my nails slightly long so I invariably find myself in a messy situation when I apply this lip balm 🙁 I think it is high time that they changed the packaging of this lip balm; lip pots are slowly becoming obsolete for a reason!

Coming to the texture of the lip balm, it is quite smooth and feels soft on the lips, not heavy or waxy at all. It has a creamy balm like shine to it too. The only problem I have with this is the pigmentation. There is none! It looks delightfully red in the tub but when applied, hardly any colour shows up.

If you have even slightly pigmented lips, you may as well opt for a non-tinted lip balm instead. If you try to layer it to get some colour, that doesn’t work either because then the balm starts to feel a bit heavy. The lip balm stays on my lips for about 3-4 hours. It definitely doesn’t survive a meal.

What I like about this lip balm?

  • Reasonably priced
  • Pleasant fragrance
  • Moisturizing to an extent
  • Does not feel heavy, waxy or sticky on the lips, unless a lot is applied

What I don’t like about this lip balm?

  • Tub packaging is SO inconvenient to use and unhygienic.
  • Colour payoff is practically non-existent. Hello what about us girls with pigmented lips?!
  • Girls with very dry lips won’t find this hydrating enough

MABH Rating: 3/5

Final word:

I am sure this is an HG lip balm for many girls out there but the catch is that it has very poor pigmentation and average hydrating power. So if you are blessed with good lips then you could go for this, and it may even become your best friend. But if your lips are very dry or chapped or pigmented, I would say it is safer to steer clear of this one.

Will I repurchase?:

Nope, there are tons of strawberry lip balms in the market that are much better than this one for about the same price! This lip balm fares poorly when compared with the Avon Naturals Strawberry lip balm and the Nivea Fruity Shine lip balms. Plus the latter ones come in twist-up packaging!
